Measured speed metres per second
Rees-Zamatt 10.73
May 10.59
Radwan 10.89
We have a young player at Ulster who clocked 10.49 as a schoolboy

Yeah I'd seen those. Doesn't tell you though if that's with or without ball, it's clearly peak speed but how do those speeds fall off over 10 metres, 20 etc. And how quickly do the players get up to those speeds.

Re: Prem 2022 - 2023 Thoughts
Absolutely.
Crossdale who was chasing Rees-Zermatt is fast in his own right.
Here at Ulster Baloucoune is no slouch and would be in the same company.
I think the point is Rees-Zermatt is fast but he is not in a league of his own as a speedster

Agree - Jason Robinson wasnt the fastest over 100m - but his acceleration and footwork is what stood out against his peersNo 7&1/2 wrote:geoff999rugby wrote:Measured speed metres per second

i would say RZ (and May previously) is much better over a longer duration than Radwan.
Ive said many times before Radwans speed off the mark is more like Robinsons...he can jink and go in blistering speed but would probably be caught over a full length...

Its a good combination if you can get a 'jinker/stepper' and an out and out 'gas man' on each wing.
Ideally a 'gas man' that is also stacked.

Wasps team of Wade and Varndell did pretty well - shocking in defence thoughpropdavid_london wrote:Its a good combination if you can get a 'jinker/stepper' and an out and out 'gas man' on each wing.

There certainly was - who was normally partnered with him in a Welsh shirt?geoff999rugby wrote:Their was a little Welshman a few years back who was quite good at the jinky bits !
Robinson - Cohen worked very well, so too was Robinson with Balshaw or Luger
North-Cuthbert kind of bucked the trend with 2 sizable wingers - but that worked well for Gatlands model

We had that with Sinoti and Goneva...sadly the coaches forgot they needed to actually feed them decent ball...

Tigers have always preferred the hammer and sickle options. Get a big pacey bloke on the left wing (so often a Tuilagi) and then someone with pace on the right.
Worked well with the Nadolo and Potter combination last season.

Aaahhh Alex Tuilagi...one of my favorite players ever.
I watched a video the other day about the Samoa v South Africa game where Henry and Alex were playing like posssed demons...even the South Africans just couldn't cope.
For Leicester, Add in the late Seru Rabeni and that was fun to watch....

Absurdly strong Saracens team with their England internationals cleared to play. Meanwhile, Smith wasn’t given approval and Care has a slight injury. Going to be a tough game, methinks, and I’d expect Marler to try to wind up Tizard at some point…
