Forums
Forums are a great place for people to visit because you are anonymous, so contributors have a safety net of sorts. Many more people visit and browse than actually contribute to a topic or even create a topic, and there's nothing wrong with that. People pick up tips, have a laugh at some of the posts and many actually learn something they weren’t aware of, which is all healthy.
I was thinking recently about the people who post, and would they still contribute to a forum if it wasn’t anonymous or even a Skype type thing where everyone was live and real. I had a chuckle thinking about some of the characters, as you have a picture in your head of what they would look like in the flesh. Some scary images for example:
Navyblueshorts sat in a skimpy pair of y-fronts, Maverick a x-dressing fat bloke in a nurses uniform, LJ a moaning pensioner with pictures of executions on his office wall, Smithers a 7-year old Etonian, S_R a 23 stone foody stuck in a wheelchair, Davie the smashey/nicey type, Hobo with a can of special brew in his hand, LadyPutt a husband abuser, D4S a parish priest, Kwini a 9-year old golf geek, Mac a 7 foot black drug dealer, Jas living in a van on the move every day trying to find as many golf courses to play as he can (He went for a newspaper 3-years ago and his mum wants him home) Pedro the kebab shop owner, OP the school headmaster, diggers from the diplomatic service …… Yes you were right I'm a Brad Pitt type

You're not wrong there mate, lots of good work for "charideee" - let's rock! <cue Bachman Turner Overdrive>
Actually I prefer to think of myself more the Tommy Vance/Alan Freeman type (though Smashy and Nicey were undeniable parodies of those legends)

Unfortuantely i don't have the golf swing
Fortunately i don't have the hair
I do, however, have plently of excuses as to why i don't often win. There, the similarity ends!
LadyPutt is definitely a husband abuser though!! ha ha

Re: Forums
By the way, if you know any pro golfers who would be willing to a live web chat, we could do it on this forum.
we are trying to do something similar with other threads but finding it a bit tricky to get people to commit - do any of you know Craig Stadler for example?

Not me - with Valentines day coming up it's all  As long as he stays at home and does the housework, the cooking and the cleaning - oh, and the gardening. He's the househusband and I go out to earn the pennies.

7 year old Etonian? I don't even know what that's supposed to imply, but I'm going to take it as an insult followed by a possible compliment!

Re: Forums
Well a 7 foot drug dealer, have to say that is not very accurate. I do wonder what i have said to give that impression.
I will admit that in my head LJ dresses like poulter, on and of the course.
I think S_R might be a bit of a rab c nesbit types ranting from his dundee council estate.

It's a scary picture isn't it 606 meet-up somehwere and we'll not be allowed on the course. The car park full of Reliant Robin's, Hearses, D4S and his pony and trap, Mac in a blinged pimpmyride escort, LJ and his lime green Cortina :606laugh: Davie in a stripped out mobile disco van ..... Nobody will ever turn up at a meet for fear of cracking ribs pissing ourselves at Mav's handlebar mustache and stethoscope etc.

So if I'm Father Jack and we've established D4S is a priest... does that make him Dougal?

Re: Forums
Goodbye all!
Actually Doc, for all of his protestations, you have LJ bang to rights. Also the dresses like Poults is not far from the mark, it all depends on whether LJ is on a dress down day.
I hope you will be entering todays round on your eclectic D4S!
Soon be time for an update on that, but there seems to be numerous injuries around.
I wonder if 1grumpygolfer has managed to dig himself out of his front door yet?

D4S - you have 2 rounds left and to date, you haven't birdied any of the holes that you get a shot on! So concentrate on holes 2-8 and any that you have a shot on.

Yeah it's not been very good to date, really could do with a couple of rounds with 2 or 3 birdies in each. I'm submitting my cards from the club eclectic, languishing a long way behind in that one too :crying:
