Wanting your team to lose?
There seemed to be a lot of talk on social media over the last few days from Spurs fans, discussing whether they wanted to win against Man City yesterday, keeping their Champions League chances alive but putting Arsenal in pole position for the title, or to deliberately tank the game just to stop Arsenal fans gloating.
I really don't understand the second attitude - as a fan of a club, surely you just want to see your team put up the best possible performance, regardless of what that potentially means elsewhere.
And of course the league title isn't decided on the result of a single game, but on what has happened throughout the season - if Arsenal don't win the title, they'll look back on the 9 days at the end of December when they only took 1 point out of a possible 9 against Liverpool, West Ham and Fulham and the loss to Villa about a month ago, rather than on other teams failing to do them a favour in the last couple of games.
As for Man City, I think they have won 8 on the bounce since drawing with Arsenal at the end of March. Arsenal have won 7 of 8 in the same period, so hard to say it's been a choke.
