Schoolboy Rugby
Some 3,000 to 5,000 watched this game today Auckland Grammar v Kings College at the Auckland venue. Suffice to say it was live on TV and what a spectacular game it was. Mistakes to a minimum and high skills shown at every position. The youngest player was 15 the eldest 19.
Credit where credit is due, UK schoolboys would be destroyed by a School side nevermind a NZ schoolboy team.
Oh Kings won by the way 25 - 21 right at the death.

Re: Schoolboy Rugby
Was it for the Moascar cup? Auckland Grammar were always strong in my day, Kings so so. G Henry was principal and Grant Fox heralded from there. I believe around 50 all blacks. Produced the likes of:
Whineray, Tremain, Fox, the Whettons, the late great John Drake, Doug Howlett, Joe Stanley. Oddly havnt had an AB for a while.
So a very proud sporting school. Martin Crowe the NZ batsman was also from there from Foxys days- was a wing in the Grammar first xv at the same time.

Re: Schoolboy Rugby
I never heard a Cup being mentioned and certainly no presentation after the game.
I have placed a little link to the ABG and the photo's on the page say it all to be honest. (Not todays game obviously).

Re: Schoolboy Rugby
Gisborne v Hastings today in front of another very reasonable crowd.
I have now read that the televised games are part of a Super VIII comp and a little googling found me this.
