When I do DeadLifts the next day I can hardly straighten my arms no back stiffness though, the day after squats my aductors or insides of my legs are usually really sore, I'm taking it that this is lactic acid or is it .... is there anything I can do or take to help with this apart from an ice bath that is.

Hmm, maybe a very light cycle or walk after the leg workout? As a cooldown exercise.

I've tried the cool down and it doesn't work really, but the Foam Rolling sounds interesting had a bit of a read up on this and apparently it's basically the poor mans sport therapist ie sports massage DIY style which could work out, thanks....

Is your back sore the next day.......What do you mean by stiff?????

If it's not sore from the traps down then maybe you are cheating without knowing it or something...

Sounds like your going so low you're not working your back and instead stressing your joints...

Inside of your legs hurting sounds like you are working Squats pretty good....Obviously doing them right.....

If your joints are hurting.. up the reps and lighten the weight.

Recovery..go to bed early and have a bath before you go..always helped me..

Hi Truss, Sorry should have been more specific, I was talking about lower back and not upper back, traps and upper back are always sore for a couple of days after doing my back routine. I think I've got good form when doing squats I've filmed myself a couple of times and looked O.K, last thing you need is not feeling confident in your form when going heavy. With the deadlifts I'm pretty sure I've got my technique right although as I've said I am going to try a higher starting point and see how I go, anyway thanks for the advice.

Just got back from a shoulders workout. Noticed some clicking in my right shoulder when doing delt raises, anyone experienced this? Not necessarily painful but just bloody annoying and a feeling of 'is it gonna go'.

Usually a result of not warming up properly...Shoulders don't have as much meat on them as chest, Legs, Back etc so they are a lot easier to upset....

My advice warm up more for smaller bodyparts...

Shoulders are not a very stable joint and many people experience clicking etc, Truss is probably right though, I've had clicking in both shoulders for 20 years and never had any other issues with them infact they are relatively one of my strongest body parts and one of the few muscles I can train hard and not really feel much soreness the next day. I'd warm up a little bit more on them but wouldn't worry too much unless they start getting painful.

Yeah I have noticed that shoulders never really seem to be affected too much the next day. Traps do big time, but shoulders not so much, just a slight stiffness maybe.

I will give warming up beforehand a go, as funnily enough it was delt raises that I did first, and I didn't feel it after that.

Delt raises..... ie side laterals should be done last in my opinion with front lateral raises...

Save the real power for Shoulder pressing as its the main mass builder...

That is usually the way I go about it Truss, however this time I just decided out of the blue to go for the raises first as a bit of a warm up before the main presses.

Think I'll go back to the presses first..
