get well soon- Ger Loughnane
Keep fighting Ger you cantankerous Bar Steward!
He Revolutionised hurling. no doubt.
Legendary former hurler and manager Ger Loughnane is battling cancer after being diagnosed with leukemia two weeks ago.
The 57-year-old former Clare manager is currently undergoing treatment at St James’s Hospital in Dublin.
Today’s Irish Daily Star runs the story which says Loughnane will not appear as a pundit this coming Sunday on RTE for the Leinster hurling final between Kilkenny and Dublin.
Loughnane won two All-Stars in the 70s and 80s whilst donning the Banner County jersey before going on to become a successful manager.
Firstly, leading Clare to their first All-Ireland title in 81 years in 1995, before winning again two years later, and then taking over the Galway hurlers for two years.
The primary school teacher has since become a respected figure in the media after retiring from management

Aye, wish Ger all the best and hope he makes a great recovery. Also hope Mark McGovern of Fermanagh gets better shorlty after receiving a serious injury in a San Fran GAA club match in the US at the weekend, he is still currently unconscious in an American hospital.

A true GAA man is Ger. Best wishes for a recovery.
Also what a tragedy for that Fermanagh player Mark McGovern. Hopefully he will recover consciousness and is ok.

Get well soon Ger. I actually thought this wasn't about The Great Ger Loughnane as I hardly ever hear folk refer to Ger Loughnane without adding the The Great bit in.
