Competitions in England, Scotland and Wales
Discovered this website whilst browsing last night http://www.golfempire.co.uk. Some of you may use this (or something similar) to sort out regional comps. It looks pretty comprehensive and fairly uptodate. Might be a good ref point for sourcing regional social meets around Opens (ala Saunton, Bournemouth and most recently North Weald). Was discussing a Midlands based regional event with D4S, JAS and Rossa a while ago. Noticed that there is a 36-holer on 21st August at Broadway (just inside Worcestershire, picturesque Cotswold village not far from Cheltenham). Some members of my home club have played the course and say it's very good. An entry fee of £20.00 for 36 holes on a Sunday is a bargain in my book. If this website is any good, I'm wondering if there is any way to have a button added so folks can easily find it, as anything which will allow us to access upcoming regional events and download paperwork has got to be useful I would have thought. Over to you Mods

Yep, excellent site, I've used to to great effect for a while now. Probably the best I've found when looking for open comps.
I looked at the Broadway comp, need to check my club diary but if it's clear then I'll see if I can fit it in.

D4S/Rossa. I'm defo up for this. Cheltenham is not that far away, so if you fancy coming up night before could go for a beer or two either in Broadway or even in Nam itself. Broadway is very pretty so if you wanted to bring women-folk, great little place to stay for weekend. Top-tip though DO NOT under any circs let em loose with your credit card - they will buy half the stock in the village given half a chance. I once took a girl I was dating for an afternoon stroll and she bought six pairs of shoes in one shop alone

Aye Broadway is a lovely wee place, 2 or 3 smashing (but not too cheap) restaurants.
Have played the course in a Society event about 4 years ago. I believe there's a touch of Braid in it. It's not the toughest you'll ever play but enjoyable nonetheless with some pretty nice views of the Severn Valley.
Also good shout on Golfempire.com....I do use it a lot. Infact just used it to check when the Broadway event is....and yep at the moment I can do the 21st Aug.

Excellent news JAS - does anyone else fancy this? Agree this Golfempire.com is excellent. I also honestly believe that organising meets around regional events is the best way for UK-based 606v2ers to meet; it takes the ballsache (that wee Scottish phrase again) out of some poor b*gger having to organise everything only for folk to cry off. Cos even if 2 of you turn up, you've still got the golf comp to look forward to, plus you meet new folk who you can also introduce to this forum. Before you know it our community grows exponentially (a bit like the number of friggin estate agents in Nam ). For me, the whole point of being a member of a golf club is not just trogging around your home course week in and out. Where's the joy in that? It's about meeting new people, experiencing fresh challenges, curry, beer and ogling a few decent women along the way

Bournemouth was excellent. There are plenty of honeys in this part of the Shire. When I say 'this part of the shire' I DO NOT mean Glos - renowned for it's rugger it might be, revered for it's women it certainly ain't - you'll be strapping a plank across yer @rse if you venture into those parts fer sure
