1998 Yankees - Will there or was there ever a better team!!

Pains me to say it as a Red sox man but the Yankees in 98...blew away almost all before them and who could remember Wellsy's perfect pitching game against (can't remember)!!

For me the best ever team in league history..

Definitely as far as the stats go then they are the best. In 1998 we set the league record as we went 125-50 including post-season games. Wellsy's perfect game was against the twins at home.

Although my favourite Yankees era has to be the 50's with greats like Hank Bauer, Mantle, Yogi and DiMaggio in the early fiftes. The world series rivalry we built up with the LA(then Brooklyn) Dodgers sounded fantastic. My favourite from this era was probably the '56 world series where we came back 2-0 after losing both the first two games to Brooklyn to win the WS 4-3 in style including Larsen's perfect game in the 5th match which earned him WS MVP.
