best/most likely player to replace tevez
tevez wants to leave city this summer
Carlos Tevez says he wants to leave Manchester City for family reasons.
The Argentina captain helped City finish third in the Premier League last season and qualify for the Champions League for the first time.
But the 27-year-old said he cannot continue to live in Manchester without his two daughters Katie and Florencia.
"I need to be closer to them and to spend more time with them," Tevez said in a statement.
More to follow.

Pure selfish. The lazy git hasn't even bothered to learn the language and yet has the cheek to complain about the films at the cinema being hard to understand. If I was City, I'd make him see out his contract. If he resists, sue him for every last penny.
Edit: as for kissing the title challenge goodbye, I wouldn't bank on it. If Tevez gets his wish then it's likely City will go after Aguero.

heard about this awhile ago. I reckon if he wants to leave make him buy out the rest of his contract. A player that doesn't wanna be there will let it show on the field

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
City have the money to let Tevez go and replace him with equal quality, much as I rate him. Problem is, where does he go!? I'd say Italy - possibly Inter - because the Spanish giants either don't need him or are chasing others. Would link up well with Ronaldo at Real though...
If he is unhappy in Manchester and wants to be near his kids then I don't blame him, and I'm not sure there are many who can. He gave everything to the club because that is his character, but he needs to do what is right for him and his family.

Dont think Tevez is replacable like for like. They could bring in a quality forward like Rossi but he still wont fill the void of Tevez.
Good news for the Prem haha.

Certainly not straight away but I reckon they could find someone who would settle in and bag the goals.
It's probably a blow to their title hopes, for sure. At times last season he won games alone with great goals.

Not just the goals, its his closing down, work rate, touch, dribbling skills, strenght. He also was good at holding the ball up.
Only player close to his comparision is Luis Suarez (Afonso Alves Mark II)

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
i dont see a straight replacement for tevez, he's been carrying this city team for the last two seasons. aguero is the obvious choice but theres no guarantee that he will setlle in the prem and also whether he wants to go to england, if he takes any advicde from his international team mate then he wont.

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
I suppose a whole new thread could be started on who is replacing him!
His work rate is phenomenal and so is his will to win -- I agree that is irreplaceable, and as captain too it will remove his example to others.
Potential signings for me: Eto'o, Villa, Aguero, Neymar? Anyone else that could be on the market this summer?

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
Aguero wont go to City, he has stated on numerous occasions that he wants to stay in spain. Plus he's great friends with Tevez so he'll tell him not to go.
Neymar will either go to spain or Chelsea
Villa IMO won't leave Barce unless they need cash, if he does leave he'll want to go where Torres is due to him stating this in interviews
Eto'o IMO wouldn't suit the Prem game.
City - Tevez = Europa league level. Plus if Tevez leaves others may wish to as well, apparently Tevez was instrumental in David Silva joining
Voted for Benzema as Madrid want to sell him apparently

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
I think Eto'o is the likely option for me. He may not physically suit the PL, but I think a 4-3-3 with him as the focal point would work and he would tuck away his chances.
Villa is still possible for me, Barcelona do need a few quid and they might yet sign Sanchez which could signal the end for him in the front three automatically.

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
How do you think Ballotelli and Dzeko would react to Mancini feeling he needs to replace Tevez with someone like Eto'o, instead of letting one of them lead the line?
Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
Balotelli probably not so well... He is a good player, and I do rate him, but he is petulant at times and seems disinterested in some games.
Dzeko can't really argue, and he needs some big performances this season to justify his fee.
With City being involved in the CL, they do need to replace Tevez, and to get a world class operator makes sense. I think there will be plenty of rotation among the squad anyway, but they need to make sure all their forwards are among the goals otherwise the void will be huge.
They still have Bellamy and Adebayor though...

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
Didn't he do this last season ?
Disn't Wayne Rooney do this last season ?
Didn't both end up securing huge pay increases ?
Begs the question if the player really doesn't want to be here, if the lure of the £££ that attracted these players in the first place is suddenly not enough, what happens next ?

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
The thing is, are there any teams that have the money to buy Tevez and need him? I can't think of any. The latest rumor is that Juventus will go for Tevez if they can't secure Aguero, but they'll most likely get Aguero, and I would have thought Italy would throw up the same problems as England for Tevez, he's more likely to go to Spain then anywhere else.

'he's more likely to go to Spain then anywhere else'
Step forward Real Madrid.
Desperate to move out from Barca's shadow, money no object transfer policy, no stranger to taking on troublesome characters, and will (at least) delay public/fan anger at their inability to challenge Barca in recent seasons

If I was the Sheik, I'd lay down the law, either sort your family out and bring them to Manchester, where their breadwinning father earns all his money, or we break every bone in your body before dumping you in the ship canal.

I voted Aguero, as far as i remember his release clause is valued at £39 mil or so, well within Man City's price range

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
forgot to add the option of not signing anyone, anybody reckon they will stick with what they have got? perhaps sign a winger who can provide better service for dzeko?
also does anybody think they will refuse to sell or will he be definately gone before the season kicks off? tevez is a very difficult character to deal with but usually when he steps on the pitch he will give his 100% so can city gamble on this or will his performances be affected eventually? intrestingly he had a great start to last season, then said he wanted to leave in the winter but stayed and had a poor second half to the season so perhaps not. although it has to be said he was injured alot second half of the season ( unusual for a want away striker to get injured alot more )

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
It's an interesting test for City.
They are perceived as a soulless cash rich club who need to create an identity, how they handle the Tevez affair will lay the foundation for how they behave in the future as until now they've been able to buy everyone's happiness, one of the stars wanting to leave isn't a situation they have faced or probably ever thought they would have to face, I'm sure they held the view that money can buy everything.
Personally I think they'll make some hard-ball statements through the press, confirm they don't need the money his sale would achieve, but they'll eventually relent and sell him for some way short of the £50m tag they've put on his signature, say £28m ish and end up looking a little stupid.
Real Madrid for me

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
The thing is when a player says he wishes to the leave the club because he wants to spend more time with his family that's fine, providing they move to a club which is closer to their family, but Tevez let's not lie you could easily afford to bring them over to the UK, but that's not what you'll do, neither will you go to the country where your family are (Argentina) so don't use such rubbish excuses, just admit it and say you're unhappy with being on a team which without you wouldn't make the europa league.

They came to Manchester, decided it was **** and went home. Fair enough, I'd do the same.

Re: tevez wants to leave city this summer
theres been a few stupid comments made by tevez one being that there are easier direct flights to argentina from spain and italy, another being the winter break they have. but what im understanding now is his family didnt settle in england because there too lazy to learn the language so ome where like spain they might settle abit easier.
oh and graemes cat, you really think he was staying in manchester? perhaps you should be slagging cheshire off seeing though thats where the majority of manchester based footballers live
