606v2- Greatest Match Ever Brainstorm

Evening All,
I was thinking of organising a little competition to decide the greatest wrestling match ever as (comprehensivley) voted for by 606v2's wrestling fans. I have set this thread up as a brainstorming session 1) to gauge the interest for my venture and 2) to compile a list worthy of being considered for the greatest match ever. Following this thread I intend to organise a few large elimination polls to narrow the list of contenders down to a more managble number and after that I will look to run matches in a similar fashion to Hero's acclaimed Wrestling World Cup from the old 606. I feel it would be better if these lists were as extensive as possible and can include suggesions from any promotion you wish (though it is likely that like all these things WWE will dominate due to there greater awareness). All nominations will be considered, though I would request this is not abused.

I will set a provisional finish time of this Friday at 4pm though I may extend it depending on how much interest is shown.

Hopefully this competition will intrigue some of you and I will have your support and enjoyment

Also have a soft spot for Kurt angle v Chris benoit, can't remember which wm it was at, but I felt it was spoilt by the method of victory. Other than that it was an awesome match up

Certainly an interesting concept! I certainly don't have the knowledge of matches to say this though:

- Bret v Austin submission match @ WM was a phenomenal match
- Angle v Lesnar Iron man match on SD was fantastic
- I preferred Hardyz v Dudleyz v E&C at Summerslam 2000 to the one at WM personally

Interesting that there's only one TNA match in this list, considering the breadth of companies used, and that TNA has been running longer than the classic ECW...

And a shocker: John Cena vs Bobby Lashley, The Bash 2007 or '08. Just for being a million times better than it ever should have been.

If Cena ones are being mentioned, how about on Raw in 2007 in the WM rematch?

Went on for ages and was a damn fine match as it happens.

Not based on wrestling ability but surely the best holy sh!t match ever?

It is difficult as Hero and others pretty much mentioned a lot of the matches I would've gone for. One of my favs was Justin Hawk Bradshaw v Pyscho Sid Raw 1995. It was an opening match and it was just a slug fest and it was brilliant to watch. Bradshaw for about 5 minutes threw him around like no other and Sid got the win by powerbombing him which was pretty impressive.
