Does Hulk Hogan still have a place in wrestling?
Once the idol of millions and the biggest draw in professional wrestling, it'd be hard to argue that at one time or another Hulk Hogan was a huge name that could sell just about anything. During the 80s, 90s and arguably the early 2000s Hogan's name was still one that could make people watch a show, make people pay for a PPV or buy merchandise. Even in 2009 when Hulk Hogan signed for TNA, there was genuine excitement from people, that Hogan was the name that could push TNA into the limelight and let them take the next step into becoming a real rival for the powerhouse of the wrestling world; WWE.
Yet two years on, there isn't nothing but contempt for what Hogan has brought to TNA. Even that begs the question; what exactly has Hulk Hogan brought to Total Nonstop Action? It seems he has brought all the things TNA didn't want from him; his ego, his friends and his obsession with heavily muscled men. Sure Hogan has always had those things in wrestling, but the difference being now that Hogan is no longer the draw he was in the 80s, or even the 90s when he moved to WCW. The ratings since Hogan came to TNA don't seem to have changed significantly and since he has been around, he may have even started to push away former loyal TNA fans.
When you think about all this, you really have to ask the questio whether the wrestling world has a placed for Hulk Hogan anymore? His biggest strength was never his wrestling, it wasn't even his mic skills, it was just the fact that Hogan connected in a way nobody else had and he along with the WWF ran with it, dragging people around in Hulkamania. But the Hulkamaniacs have all grown up, and seeing their former idol struggling to even walk around the ring is hardly going to pull them back into wrestling. So what is the point of Hulk Hogan anymore?
IMO, there isn't a place of Hogan anymore. His time in the wrestling world should have been up years ago, and he is doing nothing but harming TNA, knowing that if worst comes to worst he can leave the company high and dry and go beg MTV for another crabby reality TV show. The WWE don't need him, and shouldn't make an effort to get him, as he has shown with TNA he doesn't even seem to be a scoop for any other place he turns up in.
So what does everybody else think?

In my view, he's one more match/title run away from completely tarnishing his legacy.
As a person, i think he's a complete tool. He's completely self absorbed.

Re: Does Hulk Hogan still have a place in wrestling?
Yes and No.
The name Hulk Hogan is 9/10 people would say if you asked them for a wrestler's name, And this means everybody. fact is the name is assiocited with wrestling, and for that alone having his name at TNA is good marketing for TNA. Fans (Of Hogan) would still buy all his T-Shirts that TNA release and would tune in to watch iMPACT to see what it was all about considering he's apart of it.
What's he done for TNA Wrestling? well in the 2 years not a lot really. You would thing that he might have learnt a few things on not what to do having been in WCW. But when it was announced to the world that Hogan was with TNA he did bring in some "bigger names" that proberly changed the mind-set of some of the free agents that were about. He did bring in guys like RVD, like Ken Anderson & Brian Kendrick, but he also did bring in guys like Val Venis & Orlando Jordan and the Nasty Boys so he can bring some starpower to the table.
What would I have him do? Well tbh I'd keep him in creative but i Wouldn't have him as head creative maybe have him inputting suggestions about storylines which either get accepted or rejected. I'd keep in as maybe the GM because he could be either Heel or Face in that role, I'd also stick to him appearing just the once on an epsiode of iMPACT instead of him coming out like 3 times likes he's currently doing. He doesn't need to keep wasting what TV time they have when they could put on a decent 10 min match instead.
I'd also adertise any house shows he appears at (Local) because that could be the difference between breaking even if nobody is turning up.
So to sum it up, There is a place for him but only in a certian way, He shouldn't wrestle again, even though I have heard he wants something with Sting.

See, I'm not sure today's generation recognise Hulk Hogan as THE wrestler. I would suggest that The Rock and Stone Cold, perhaps even The Undertaker or Triple H are all names people associate with wrestling now. If you asked people under the age of 30, I would expect there'd be a lot less Hulk Hogans if you asked them to name a wrestler than you'd imagine.

The only other guy to rival Hogan for main stream popularity is The Rock, HHH definitely wouldn't be known to non Wrestling fans, The Undertaker would be third IMO, ask a non Wrestling fan who Steve Austin is and the likely reply would be the six million dollar man, as for Hogan, despite the fact he is a known name he is no longer a draw, he shouldn't be on TV in 2011, he is well and truly past it, Muhammed Ali was the greatest of all time in boxing but he has no place in today's boxing

TNA's problem was that none of those guys mentioned would work for them - they are WWE to the core. Hogan on the other hand went where the money was and his departure from WWF to WCW is proof he has no overriding loyalty.
As far as whether Hogan is still relevant today? No. Hogan's way past his prime, both in terms of ring work, mic skills and character. He's so one dimensional and as has been mentioned let's his ego get in the way of sound business decisions. He hasn't drastically improved TNA; in fact he did the total opposite when he first went to the company and only now is TNA showing signs of damage limitation and repair. TNA is on the cusp of something big - they're taking impact! on the road, they're restoring the X-Division to its rightful place within the product and they've completely revamped their image giving the product a fresh new feel to it. All the signs are positive. Yet all of them could be done without Hogan. Hogan is not integral to any of the progress TNA are beginning to make. Does his name still sell merch? Maybe amongst his die hard fans. But ratings don't lie and he can't boast he's been the making of TNA's success.

To be honest, I he would do much better for TNA if he wasn't on their programmes, If he maybe promoted the company outside the ring and helped with some of the creative process. Hogan still has some pulling power so if he helped promote TNA within the media and whomever they are partners with, it could work much better.
