What a legend - fair play to him - just wish it had gotten more publicity so he could have raised more money for charity

Smirnoff - Legend is one of those over used words, but in this case I fully agree. To be honest I am appauled by the lack of coverage of this outside the welsh rugby circles, it is one hell of an achievement no matter what.

I know it's terrible that it's not even covered in Welsh media - let alone British media.
I get the feeling that if he hadn't been some broken down ex-rugby player but had been someone who'd gone to Oxbridge and had known a lot of journalists/movers and shakers in the media world then this story would have been all over the national press and there would have been profiles about him.
But fair play to him and to everyone whose donated to him...

I did message the rugbydump facebook page about this when he had scaled Everest, but they didnt take any notice. Would have thought that they would have taken a bit of interest. Real shame that the media have ignored this.

totally agree Coleman. You have to think had it would have had more attention had a footballer been doing it. Not that there's a footballer alive who would do it...

Didn't even know he was attempting this one so soon.
What a great achievement. I'm glad that I have one of the specially commissioned Dragons shirts now he's actually done it. Considering what he's had to contend with, he's done fantastically.
I hope the Dragons make a real fuss over him when we officially open our new stand (i.e. when it's allowed to full capacity.

I thought i just read 08:20 Kiwi.
He's having a homecoming reception tomorrow at around 16:00 or so at the Senedd in Cardiff. I certainly plan on going and hopefully he'll get a great welcome.

I like your edit note Kiwi.
Coleman, yeah it's a pity. I know a few people that would love to go, but can't. I'm not expecting too much of a turnout to be honest.

There was about 200 there or so for his homecoming. He got a great reception though and he seemed genuinely taken by surprise by it. Delighted I went though.
I overheard him saying he's on about 60,000 raised (I think). Hopefully now he's appearing on National TV and getting the publicity he deserves, he'll make his £1,000,000 target.

Really glad that there is a doc to be shown over three weeks. But its only on BBC One Wales. Hopfully it'll get well watched via iPlayer. The more people that are aware the more likely he is to reach the £1M.
