User Ranks
Another idea from the Legend:
We could have a member ranking system based on your post count. I have stolen this idea from another site I am on - ps3trophies.org - http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/faq/33461-ps3t-user-ranks.html

Re: User Ranks
I personally hate the idea as it can lead to a clique and hierarchal system.
But I am more than happy to be persuaded otherwise.
I am sure the rest of the admin team will post there views.

Re: User Ranks
I just think it will encourage members to post and not be afraid to express their opinions. I think if you were to implement the idea you would need to simplify the one from the link. That is a very popular site and needs the varying levels, but here we would need no more than five or six.

Re: User Ranks
Personally i dont like them, but thats just my view.
A forum should treat all members equally, not show someone to be a higher class poster than someone who has just joined.
It can lead to a newish member feeling a bit intimidated to post and for that reason, im out

Re: User Ranks
I think a ranking system works for something like PS3Trophies because it is about showing off your achievements. It's like in CoD on PS3...they have ranking systems and Prestige levels for the reason of showing what you have achieved.
This is more a general forum where we want all people to contribute and not be put off by rankings. While I accept that ranking levels may add a new dimension to the 606v2 experience, I do think in the long run it may have a detrimental effect on the number of posters/new members we receive.

Re: User Ranks
Okay I accept that we are comparing two very different websites and you are probably right about this not being a good idea. Anyway at least its an idea - its the thought that counts!
