Pete - am definitely suggesting that the Aussies moved Giteau out of defence to accomodate Cooper. They've never done it with him before in any test match and he's more than handled the Pacific Islanders before. The commentators made a massive deal about it after around 15-20mins of the game saying how Ioane was being moved across to cover, because 'Cooper gets moved out of harms way'.

Its obvious what tehy are doing - Giteau can tackle as well as a fly half is expected to, so what other explanation is there?

Right, who's around for some deals?

The following Saracens players are definitely available..

George Chuter
Tom Mercey
James Scaysbrook
James Short
Ollie Smith
Alex Grove
Seilala Mapusua
Max Lahiff
Phil Swainston
Ruaridh Murphy
Jacob Rowan
Rodney So'oialo

All other players may be available on request.

I am looking for a good hooker not going to the WC, a tighthead and an outside centre.

Hi guys

Had a world wind of a monday

1)Have to buy new shirt and tie for Job interview on thursday - so bricking for that.

2)Got to rugby tonight to be introduced to Hordens new owner who bought the club the other day and offered me a contract to play 1st team rugby there consisting of travel fees being payed and a wage of £25 a match so i'm in two minds with that.

3) Afterward due to the amount of volunteer work i'v done at Seaton with my mate Joe , Coach Billy and another volunteer from the football side of things we've been awarded 4 free tickets to Wales vs England at the Millennium stadium in August for the RWC warm ups!

So a busy day for Driver lol

There about 20 minutes outside of hartlepool steve , they have a massive catchment area covering most of county durham so they bring in a lot of players from the Pit towns.

Matt i'm not sure how were getting down there can imagine it being a early morning drive down.

Pooly , I know! Horden is a good club just in the wrong town lol , I'm still 50/50 on whether to make the move or not.

Teams for Tri Nations opener...

Wallabies

15. Kurtley Beale , 14. James O'Connor , 13. Adam Ashley-Cooper , 12. Pat McCabe , 11. Digby Ioane , 10. Quade Cooper , 9. Will Genia , 8. Ben McCalman , 7. David Pocock , 6. Rocky Elsom (captain) 5. James Horwill , 4. Rob Simmons , 3. Ben Alexander , 2. Stephen Moore , 1. Sekope Kepu

Reserves: 16. Saia Fainga'a , 17. Pekahou Cowan , 18. Nathan Sharpe , 19. Matt Hodgson , 20. Scott Higginbotham , 21. Nick Phipps , 22. Anthony Fainga'a

15 Gio Aplon, 14 Bjorn Basson , 13 Juan de Jongh , 12 Wynand Olivier , 11 Lwazi Mvovo , 10 Morne Steyn , 9 Ruan Pienaar , 8 Ashley Johnson , 7 Danie Rossouw, 6 Deon Stegmann , 5 Johann Muller , 4 Flip van der Merwe , 3 Werner Kruger, 2 John Smit (captain) , 1 Dean Greyling -

Replacements :16 Chiliboy Ralepelle , 17 CJ van der Linde , 18 Alistair Hargreaves , 19 Jean Deysel , 20 Charl McLeod , 21 Adrian Jacobs , 22 Patrick Lambie

Some interesting calls there, most notably the complete omission of Giteau from the 22 for Australia. Is he injured, needs a rest, or has Deans finally lost patience with him and is this a clear indication that if Barnes fails to make the World Cup, we will see McCabe or Faingaa at 12 for them?

Aus should win, but will need to be better than they were against Samoa or they will get turned over. That is a very 2nd string Saffa side though.

Think Deans just wants to have a look at Simmons against a weakend Saffa's side more so then dropping Sharpe. We all know Sharpe if fit will be starting come the world cup.

No Giteau is very interesting! Wouldnt think he would be too tired. Wasnt as if he had to put a shift in defensively the weekend just gone. Expect him to make the world cup squad as back up 10 and due to his versatility but looks like Deans is having doubts about as well

But you know that Giteau only played rubbish because the forwards were rubbish and he had to be moved out the defensive line because Cooper can't defend although Cooper wasn't even playing and he must have been getting poor service from his 9 and the players outside him didn't do their jobs and it wasn't sunny enough and it was a little bit cold which made his hands a bit numb so he couldn't work his magic otherwise he would have been world class and won the game for Australia singlehandedly.

Thats a massive SA Pack. McCabe has been great this year and versatile. i wanted him in the foreigns.

Interesting to see JDJ at 13 he has played more internationals there than 12 and was excellent last year.

Simmons has been excellent this year but not sure they have dropped sharpe more like taking a look at simmons in a pressure game.

Lots of Aussie players with very little form like AAC, Pocock and Elsom who need to step up. Could quite easily see AAc and Elsom in Particular losing their place

I suspect JdP will go anyway Pete. Not a great position for SA TH, there's loads of potentials but nobody is really shining, especially in the scrum.

Thing with AAC is he's always performed at Int level, massive drop in standard after him too. Don't think Pocock has been out of form.

TH is an issue for SA and has been for a while. They will only take 4 props I suspect, and 3 hookers as Smit covers prop.

Beast will definitely go, and I would say van der Linde as he covers both sides and is very experienced. That leaves two spots between Coonie, Greyling, Kruger and JdP I suspect.

Big performances from the Bulls pair this weekend might just bump them up the order a bit. here's hoping.

I just think Pdiv likes the Sharks combo and that'll sway him, I like Beast gets a bad rep for scrummaging but he's quite strong there.

Don't think Chris will be happy with this, think he was hoping to see a few of the Wasps youngsters in the 1st XV this season...

London Scottish have received a massive boast after Wasps agreed to loan out seven of their academy prospects, including England Under-20s star Joe Launchbury.

The 20-year-old lock was named as the player of the tournament at the Junior World Championships, with England having been edged out in the final.

Launchbury will be joined at Scottish by Wasps team-mates Elliot Daly, Jonah Holmes, Sam Jones, Mitchel Tamiau, Lewis Thiede and Billy Vunipola.

The players will continue to train with Wasps but play for the ambitious Championship new-boys.

Think they will take Kruger, BDP, Beast and Steenkamp as props personally.

Think you could see AAC on the Wing in the WC and maybe FAiinga come in.

Hard to get a balance right. AAC has not really played centre this year. The aussies have a lot of players but still do not know the best lineup in the backs and miss a fit and young mortlock like nothing else

Is Steenkamp fit?

Think Beast gets a bad rub about his scrummaging like all props who are god in the loose do. It's like people think you can only be good at one aspect. Gethin Jenkins suffers from the same misperception.

I think Chris expected Launchbury and Daley to be starting for Wasps, esp Launchbury. Prob the best move though to get a easier learning curve.

Doubt Steenkamp will go unless he proves himself fitness wise but you never know.

Suspect AAC will get better through the 3N at 13 the more he plays there, been stuck at FB at wing most of the year but I thought he was decent against Samoa.

Love to see a Genia, Cooper, JOC, AAC backline, think that combo would rip teams to shreds.

Do you not reckon BJ Botha might have a shout at a Bok world cup spot Pete? Very solid TH always liked him. Been part of the revolution at Ulster.

As you can guess Im hoping JDP is already marked down for a spot! Very hard to guess what P Div will do

See in that article from Pete that Robinson might yet make the world cup. Holding of on surgery on his injury in the chance that he will be able to play on it. Deans seems quite enthuastic about it

They expect Steenkamp to be fit and to go on all the south african sites. Dont want to go without your best props so expect them to give him every bit of time needed.

I am no BJ Botha fan. Seen him take too many hidings for me. did well for Ulster and will be interesting to see how he goes at Munster.

Regarding that article about Benn Robinson playing without an ACL there is one player who famously played with no ACL and that is Dallglio. He had it done once and then did it again and decided not to as it was stable. Did loads of alternative strengthening etc and was slower but a damn good player.

Think he then did the other one and had it done as the OP is much more succesful now. Watched him talk about it on several times

I don't see Barnes making the World Cup. Saw him training with a very protective helmet on (like a sort of material you find at a kids play centre. Wonder if they are legal.

I think Faainga will go 12 by the looks of the wallaby set up. That back line looks a lot like a Wallaby backline with 12 on trial.

I reckon Oz will play the most mobile loose head if Robinson is out

Reds have shown you can win without a dominant scrum you just need have the ball in and out quickly

It worked well for them in the final Steve, as soon as the ball reached the number eights feet it was out and in Genia's hands. I suspect that Aus will do the same sort of thing.

It is so simple and is effective and I don't understand why its not done more often.

A good strike and a number 8 who's worst his place should be able to do this with ease.

With regards to the opposition having the ball, a properly executed 8 man shove should at international level at the very least give the referee the idea that you aren't getting mullered.

If you look like your having a good collision the ref seems to think your scrum is doing okay.

Its all very well saying they can just channel 1 ball it and any 8 worth his salt can deal with it but you are getting such poor quality ball and putting pressure on the 8,9 and 10 Axis.

Quick hook and out does not allow you to wheel the scrum or to run decent set moves and means you are always up against it.

I don't see how the quick hook affects the set moves. if its executed properly the ball is in the 9's hands quickly and your off. Catch the opposition backrow on the backfoot if nothing else.

With Matt on this one. Messy ball for the scrum half to deal with and I think every back row in the world will be on their toes ready for it when the aussies do it during the world cup.
