Baseball on TV
With the new Baseball season fast approaching it's nice to see listings for Baseball and Baseball movies on tv. So, if your in front of the tv, Friday night, BBC 2 to be exact, check out 'Sugar' at 23.50. A little late but worth it. Sugar is an excellent movie about a young Domincan pitcher coming to the US to play in the Minors with a chance to break in to the Majors. Here's a link to a review page: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10009355-sugar/
The movie is in Spanish/English and runs about 2 hours but it's a great movie, so worth it to stay awake . Plus a little practice for the coming season, baseball and late nights!

Must remember this, it's meant to be a pretty decent film even if your not into baseball...so I might even be able to convince my girlfriend to watch it!..

I really enjoyed this film, many of the players on my team are from dominican and they enjoyed it too, baseball is like a religion out there.

Opening Day in ten days folks! (And there's still snow forecast for parts of Connecticut and other New England states )
Here is a provisional list of March/April games to be shown on ESPN Am.

Sharky, I'd say ESPN Am. have air time put aside for hockey, end of reg. season on April 10 and then the playoffs begin April 13. MLB games no doubt will be added to the list if times allow.

Aye, thats probably the only good thing about setanta UK going bust. I miss out on some celtic Rugby and Gaelic football (unfortunately). But both ESPN and ESPN Am are great for MLB and NFL. I might stay up for that movie too, sounds alright.

Gaelic-Warrior if the your talking about the movie in the first post it was on in mid Feb, that was posted Feb 16th I think. But never mind, you should really check it out on DVD or whatever, it is a really good movie.

Looks like ESPN Am. have replaced Baltimore @ Cleveland on Saturday at 6pm with live hockey playoffs. I was looking forward to seeing the O's, plus Guthrie V's Tomlin is a good pitching matchup. The Mets and Braves (on Fox) will follow the hockey at 9.

Playoff hockey is way more exciting than watching the Orioles
(And it gives me something else to concentrate on rather than the Red Sox' woeful start to the season)

You probably wouldn't be saying that if Boston had a great start this year.
I don't follow hockey much, are the bruins in contention this year, how are the rangers doing?

Hi GW - The Bruins kick off their playoff campaign tonight against their biggest rivals, the Canadiens. Considering the bad blood between the two teams, it will be a hell of a series.
The Rangers made the playoffs and lost their first game against the Capitals last night. It was a close game though, so I'm expecting them to push the Caps all the way.

Right that's you off my christmas card list (you weren't on it anyway, but still),
How can you say that about my beloved Orioles? who are having a fantastic
start to the season. I'm hurt (even though it's probably true, i'm still deeply
hurt).

Thanks Jane, hopefully the rangers will get pretty far in the play-offs.
I'm looking forward to the Yankees knocking baltimore of top spot in AL East tonight. I'll still send you a christmas card Jane, even if you are a red sox fan.

Big series against toronto coming up next for the red sox, could be a good indicator of how the majority of Boston's season will go. Will be interesting to see how they handle the pressure if their bad run continues, especially if the fans start getting on their back.

Re: Baseball on TV
Just finished watching the highlights there, looked like a great game. Bronx bombers were on the ropes until the 7th inns and orioles had a chance to make it 6 runs in the 8th but thankfully pie was blocked and tagged near homeplate by chamberlain. Nick Swisher made an excellent catch at the wall in the fifth to deny a baltimore homer and won the game with a sacrifice fly ball for tex to run home and seal the game for the Yanks.
Great comeback, hopefully we can boss this series and put a wee bit of distance between us and the rest of the division.

Re: Baseball on TV
Dont forget Red Sox/Jays fans that because of 'Patriots' Day', Mondays game begins on ESPN Am. at 16.00 GMT.
Enjoy Patriots' Day my friends in Mass and Maine. R.Romero Vs. D.Matsuzaka ( ) MLB's new 'human rain delay', but he does pitch well against the Jays.

Re: Baseball on TV
Patriots' Day is always good fun in Boston. The Boston Marathon is run and finishes in the centre of the city giving the Red Sox fans chance to watch the end of the race and then go and watch the baseball. And if the Bruins and/or Celtics have made their respective playoffs their fans are usually in town and it's such a great atmosphere.

Re: Baseball on TV
I'm really looking forward to the Cubs games. The team with the oldest ballpark in the AL hosting the team with the oldest ballpark in the NL. Two great teams with so much history between them.
Very tempted to go along to one of the games, even though it does mean paying more than face value for a ticket.

Tickets still for sale on redsox.com but only as part of a 3 game package or a 'standing room only' ticket.

With Derek Jeter just two hits off 3000, ESPN America (Sky 430) as expected have changed their schedule. Intead of Jays @ Indians Friday at midnight its the Rays @ Yankees. They also have the same matchup tomorrow night at 6pm.
