I think Bellew is scared of Cleverley.....All that "Let's do it right now you rat" was completely over the top as if it was forced to try to give him confidence...The way Cleverley coolly dealt with it must have perturbed him even more...

Also the "Give me credit for taking it at short notice" guff was sad to watch as well...Why should Clev give him credit..

Sure he'll get his face punched in you're right.

I'm guessing that you don't like Bellew though!

he isn't completely dumb though as he has raised his profile. Think he's gambling on Cleverley having bigger fish to fry. Woeful fight at the weekend though

Needs work doesn't he and the fact he's licked canvas against ordinary opposition doesn't bode well.

yeah i was looking forward to a bit of a tear-up. think they were a bit scared of each others punch. he got the win fair play but I think that was a missed chance to get a big following. Maybe the role of pantomine villain in future fights is waiting.

Steffan, we all know it's you who is ducking Bellew... Especially as he called you out live on Saturday.

He clearly said "I want that fella from the Valleys!". Smile

Bellew at the moment has shown his mouth but little else. He needs to prove himself before we even talk about Cleverly. Boxing masterclass Erm he needs some reality rehab!

To me he comes across as the stereo typical scouse troublemaker. Made me laugh when he started shouting at Clev after the fight, as if what he had just witnessed was going to reconsider his options.

coev deals with Bellew but then he needs to figth a legit fight after all he is a world champion. Clev is talented but with no real power att he weight and a propensity for getting hit by c level fighters his days are numbered at the top, needs to straighten out his defense and move up his standard of opposition because he was basically givent he blt int he end. Like Clev but Cloud, pascal, Dawson and Hopkins would eat him for breakfast att he mo,which would be ok except he is a world champ

Bellew performance, though understandable, took the atmosphere away a little bit to be honest, but I was also at the Echo when Clev stunk the place out, it happens. If Clev cant get a big name, then Bellew is the fight that will get him the most exposure. Also, do we need to resort to the souse comments everytime Bellew is mentioned, if you dont like him fair enough, but does it have to be scouse this or scouse that?

For what its worth I think Clev should win this fight, he'd win easily if he got himself to a decent gym amd was taught to box to his stengths. As it is he will probabaly take a few big digs, but seems tough enough to come through it an outwork Bellew. I still like Tony though, and hope he goes further than I believe he can at this stage.

And Bellew is like "I want the fight in Liverpool"

Want the fight in Liverpool? You wanna fight the WBO champion of the world in YOUR HOME TOWN???

What about his home town Tony? What about it?

Nah thats fine. Clev will bring the fight to you and your goons. Cheer you on they can if they want. Watch you get your face punched in either way!!!

for me, not making the weight for a last minute replacement and calling names does not make ingredients for a exciting title fight- bellew has done nothing to earn a world title fight, he has beat a limited fighter twice, the last fight was boring and the rest of bellew's record is urine poor

Tony's fought some quality opposition in the past I see:

Paul Bonson:
won 21 (KO 2) + lost 105 (KO 3) + drawn 8 = 134

How could anyone carry on a career long enough to rack up 105 losses Shocked

not as impressive as when he took the (vacant) commonwealth title, against the seasoned vetran a.moore 4(2)-0-0, at least he had a tough first defense against ajisafe 8(2)-1-0. exactly the kind of build up fights to prepare you for a world title

Not a fan of Bellew.

I hope Cleverly would beat him comfortably if they fought.

Bellew looks to have anger management issues to me, the way he was carrying on and screaming after beating MacKenzie in a terribly boring fight was actually funny. Shouting about like he'd out boxed a master and put on a clinic that we all were privileged to witness.

Umm, no mate, you outpointed one of the most uncomfortable and uncoordinated fighters around who nearly took you out last time with wild looping punches...

B-Hop against Pavlik or Mayweather against Marquez, that most certainly was not.

I just assumed this was another Rocky...homage. I don't care much for Bellew, in fairness. Seems fairly bog-standard, and gobby to boot.

Since when did Cleverly become the reincarnation of Archie Moore, is that another meeting I've missed?

Bellew is a conqueror? No. Clev's Alexander. He's the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. He's Ezzard Charles. He's Bob Foster, there's no one like him - He's from their cloth. There's no one that can match Clev

Not sure on all the stuff above lol but if Nathan improves his defense and ups his punching power I do think he really could become one of boxing's superstars in about 3 years time.

i agree, but that is a ridiculous thing to be saying about a world champion. he could develop quicker but i think for that he will need some tough challengers, which he wont get for a while.

No offense to Tony but you haven't got it mate. You're not world class, and to even think your performance against McKenzie will do anything but make Cleverly even more confident of beating you then you are a deluded man. I'm talking in the realms of Audley A- Farce Harrison deluded. You have one thing good to your game excitement and explosiveness, you take that away and you virtually have nothing. The boxing skills Tony possesses are minimal especially for a I am led to believe former ABA champ.
Being a bit harsh on him I guess considering he would knock me into next week most probably but he isn't anything near Cleverly. ONly way I could even concieve of Cleverly losing is if he starts putting his tongue out again and gets sparkoed...
