Wigan 0 - 1 Man City
Silva

Manchester City's attacking four were just too strong for Wigan today and proved the difference despite a valiant effort from the hosts. Essien has strengthened the midfield and they look stronger at the back with Terry, but they missed Srna at the back and Breno looked out of his depth. It was the young defender's mistake which led to the only goal of the game as Silva skinned him before curling a delightful shot at the far post. Wigan looked slightly bare up front, understandably, without Iniesta who succumbed to injury. Sneijder did occasionally look like threatening but couldn't muster up any real chances of note.

==========

Man Utd 3 - 0 Liverpool
Messi, Higuain, di Maria

Doh

==========

Newcastle 0 - 0 Fulham
n/a

Both sides cancelled each other out in this match in a relatively boring affair. Neither defence is particularly bad and on the whole, both midfields matched each other for most of the game. Fulham probably have the better class with Mata and Pedro, but the guile of Newcastle's Dutch DM pairing managed to cope well enough to give them a share of the spoils.

==========

Stoke 2 - 1 Everton
Ronaldo, Young
Hernandez

The home side were comfortable winners in the end despite the scoreline suggesting an unconvincing victory. In truth, Stoke's attacking trio have enough pace and quality to overwhelm most sides in the league and today was no different as Everton suffered. Ronaldo bagged the first with a trademark free kick before Young was on hand to tap in after César could only fumble Rooney's fierce strike. Canales impressed in midfield in Kaka's absence but it was a different story for Everton as Alonso couldn't impose himself. The visitors' defence has improved but Kjaer nor Sakho are abundant in experience. To their credit, they kept pressing and finally got their reward as Hernandez finished a good move off well to make the scoreline look a little more pleasing for Bathite.

==========

Sunderland 1 - 3 Chelsea
Benzema
Ozil, Ribery, Villa

Sunderland's audacious tactics backfired on Fernando today as Chelsea took advantage of a weakened defence to run riot. A three-man defence is always a risky move and fair play to Fernando to have the bravery to attempt it. However, it gave far too much room for Vargas and Ribery on the flanks and the two Chelsea wingers were in their element. Ribéry set up the first goal, cutting back inside to lay off Mesut Ozil who smashed the ball in from range. It was the Frenchman who doubled his side's lead shortly afterwards, found in yards of room by Ozil this time to finish. Sunderland had a slight reprieval as Benzema got the better of Luiz but it was to no avail as Villa sealed the result.

==========

Tottenham 0 - 1 Bolton
Ibrahimovic

Two injury-stricken sides both played out a fantastic affair with Bolton edging it ever so slightly at the death. Tottenham have a solid squad and weren't too badly affected by injuries despite three first-team players being ruled out. They played some good football and Dzeko seemed a man with a point to prove, testing reserve keeper Asenjo many times. Bolton were really affected by injuries today and their midfield looked bare. However, their attack was unharmed and were firing on all cylinders as Ibrahimovic scored the winner late on to hand Tottenham another defeat.

==========

Arsenal 2 - 0 Aston Villa
Nasri, Torres

An easy win for Arsenal in the end as Aston Villa failed to challenge them at all in all honesty. The away side do have a couple of good players but are very weak in some areas and Arsenal, strengthened this week by some shrewd transfers by Guv, exploited these weaknesses. Nasri was flourishing out wide and created plenty of chances for himself and his teammates. As it was, Nasri fired in the opener, humiliating Warnock before sweeping it past Given easily. Aston Villa never threatened the home side's defensive line but always looked likely to concede and did so again, Torres heading in a fantastic Fabregas corner to put the result beyond doubt.

Wigan 0 - 1 Man City
------------------ Silva

Wigan very solid at the back and central midfield but up front they look weaker and could struggle for goals. City are very strong throughout and deserved the win altihough they had to work hard against the strong Wigan defence.

Man Utd 6 - 0 Liverpool
Messi 3
Higuain 2
Aguero

Utd beat 8 man Liverpool.

Newcastle 1 - 1 Fulham

Fairly even sides. Both have strengths and weaknesses which cancelled each other out. Both can improve and have the players they can use to do so. Plenty of scope for the two managers.

Stoke 2 - 1 Everton
Ronaldo --- Hernandez
Rooney

Up front is where this match was won. Ronaldo and Rooney are a fearsome duo and will get Stoke goals this season. Everton have nice balance, decent central midfield and a goal poacher up front. They'll get some results but will struggle against the stronger sides. Today, Ronnie and Rooney won the points.

Sunderland 1 - 3 Chelsea
Gomez --------- Villa 2, Ribery

Bold formation from the home side going for 3 CBs at the back. Sanchez and Hazard are not wingbacks though and failed to track back enough to prevent Chelsea's wide men from exploiting the space left behind. Sunderland have good attacking options and Gomez got a debut goal to bring the game back to 2-1 but the damage was done at the back where Villa benefitted with two goals, Ribery getting the other.

Tottenham 0 - 1 Bolton
---------------- Forlan

Not too much between these sides but Bolton's attack had the greater threat throughout the match and eventually found the all important breakthrough. Both defences are solid and played well. One goal proved enough to get all three points.

West Brom 1 - 1 Blackburn
Nani ------------ Drogba

Blackburn have the edge overall but WBA are a decent side and at home proved a match for their opponents. Defensively Albion sneak it and although they are outpowered in central midfield, Albion's trio are hard working and made life hard for the opponents. Nani had a top match and pinched a point for the home side late on to leave Blackburn frustrated.

Wigan 1-2 Man City
Sneijder--Marchena, Tevez

An impressive win for City. Wigan have a good side but injuries clearly had an affect on them. A couple of weaker players and players not in their best position. City still looked strong and well balanced. They controlled this game and played some lovely patient football. They went 2-0 up in the first hour here with a Marchena header putting them infront before a great Carlos Tevez effort made it 2-0. Wigan gave a brief scare of a comeback when Sneijder finished off a run by N'Zogbia but they never looked like getting a 2nd.

Man Utd 10-0 Liverpool

A truly beautiful scoreline Laugh A fantastic Man Utd side anyway, and when Liverpool dont bother to show up with a full team, there are going to be problems. Messi and co had a great time at Old Trafford.

Newcastle 1-0 Fulham
Lampard

A good match and a very close one. Fulham created chances but had problems finishing them off and Newcastle looked solid generally but lacked a slight cutting edge. That was until Lampard scored with a trademark finish in the second half. Fulham tried hard and they were unlucky not to equalise but it stayed 1-0.

Stoke 2-0 Everton
Ronaldo, Rooney

A comfortable win in the end for Stoke. Everton had a lot of running and work rate but lacked some creativity and Hernandez was very isolated at times. Stoke have a bit of an inconsistent midfield but they had some moments of quality today. And the front 3 are incredibly dangerous. Ronaldo was on top form and Rooney loves playing with him. They combined well twice, and it lead to two goals of superb quality. Ronaldo finishing off the first after great play by Diego and Rooney. Rooney finished the 2nd after great skill from Ronaldo and a lay off from Young.

Sunderland 0-2 Chelsea
Villa 2

Sunderland looked lost out there today with a strange formation. Injuries have obviosuly hit them hard and the defence was all over the place. Chelsea have a strong team allround and their midfield controlled Sunderland's. Their two wide men had so much space and were very dangerous today, leading to two tap ins for David Villa, one in each half.

Tottenham 0-1 Bolton
Forlan

Some may say a typical Tottenham performance here. The midfield played well and looked good but chances were wasted by Dzeko today. And at the back, at times, they looked shaky. Boateng was at fault for the goal here. Bolton looked strong allround and deserved the win today and talisman Forlan with a super strike after Boateng's slip.

Arsenal 2-0 Aston Villa
Van Der Vaart, Berbatov

An interesting match as managerless Villa went to the Emirates Stadium. Villa played some nice football at times with Ronaldinho key to this, but there was a real lack of cutting edge and not much effort at times from attackers tracking back. Arsenal also played their usual nice football with Fabregas controlling the game. Torres missed a couple of chances, one very unfortunately when he hit the inside of the post. But the dominance in the second half was rewarded with 2 fine goals. First a lovely strike from Van Der Vaaart before a nice team move was finished in style by sub Berbatov.

Man Utd 3 - 0 Liverpool
Messi (2)
Higuain

Newcastle 1 - 1 Fulham
Ivanovic --------- Schweinstiger

Fuham started well and took the game to Fulham and that gamble paid off early on when Schweinstiger's long range drive found the bottom corner and a deserved lead too. Newcastle puiled on the pressure but when they nearly lost hope, a towering Ivanovic header rattled the underside of the bar and equalised.
---

Stoke 2 - 1 Everton
Ronaldo -- Raul
Cavani

Everton nearly equalised in the final miutes but for Nesta who beautfiully tackled Hernandez when he was certain to score. It was Stoke who controlled the game with a thunderous shot by Ronaldo and second half Cavani came on and headed a sceond. Stoke were in cruise control but when Raul poached a goal back, Stoke look rattled. It was nervy but for fine defending particularly by Nesta, Stoke came out with the 3 points.
--

Sunderland 1 - 3 Chelsea
Benzema ----------- Villa, Ozil, Ribery

Sunderland opted to play 3 CB's but it backfired as Chelsea's wingers and attackers exposed their lack of width and created space all their goals. Ozil with the pick of them after twisting Cris and lobbing Handanovic. Sunderland did cause problems and it was a fantastic pass by Totti that gave Benzema a 1-on-1 chance against and he buried it with ease. Unfortunately, Sunderland's defence couldn't handle the strikers of Chelsea
---

Tottenham 1 - 2 Bolton
Balotelli --------- Modric, Ibra

A great win for Bolton and a deserved one as they dominated the game for long periods and saw it through with two great goals. Modric with a great solo run whilst Ibra's free-kick gave Bolton that a cushion. Tottenham had some half chances and when Ballotelli came on, he looked dangerous and scored a goal from nothing. It was too late and Bolton were worthy winners.

West Brom 0 - 2 Blackburn
-------------------- Drogba, Mexes

West Brom were on the back foot from kick-off but they held their nerve after the first 20mins. It was a sloppy mistake from Rio who couldn't 'stay on his feet' with a lunge at Drogba but failed miserably. Drogba run through and blasted it home. West Brom did have some good chances with Nani's long range shot and and Huntelaar's header but Casillas was equal to them. Xavi's corner was time perfectly by Mexes who headed it home and the game was finished.
---

Arsenal - Aston Villa
Fabregas
Torres

Even with Vidic being injured, Arsenal were worthy winners against a Villa side which struggled to keep pace with them. Arsenal scored both goals early on and could have extended it but it seemed that they took they were satisfied with the two. Villa created chancesbut wasn't really clear-cut.
