They better be sure they get him for a good price though, otherwise they could have yet another expensive flop of a striker on their hands.

I believe a few teams are involved which would drive up his price, plus he's under 21 so can play in Champs League without being in the official 25 registered.
I reckon it will be around £20 mill

Risky considering he's only ever played in the Belgian league.

How can you compare a relative unknown to a world class beast of a player? This guy does sound good and does have the attributes to be like Drogba, but not just yet, unless you meant like for like in a different context in which case im sorry! lol

Haha ive just read it back and does seem like he would be slotted in straight away. I meant that he would be the eventual successer to Drogba. Same sort of attributes

Just been reading Skysports and it looks like Anderlecht are looking at replacing Lukaku with Milan Jovanovic from Liverpool , being a Reds fan i cant say i will be sorry to see him leave .
Had i quick look around a few sites and fee in region of 3 - 4 million .

Considering he's sucked us dry on wages,I'd be happy with 4.

Maybe a good choice.
They need to be some young players; because their squad is aging.

A season learning from Drogba or will Drog now be on his bike?
Would be a risk to expect him to easily take over from Drogba of course, but he seems to have alot of clubs drooling over him so he must be good for an 18 year old.

I would think he would start as a squad player.
I imagine Torres will be first choice; they spend a fortune on him. Followed by Drogba.
I think Anelka is just running down his contract before moving to an MLS club next summer.

Re: Chelsea bid for Lukaku
I think that's a shame though as Anelka can still do a job at the top level of the Premier League, for long periods of last year because of Drogba's illness and Torres becoming rubbish Anelka was Chelsea's best forward, and I still think he is a good player, although if Chelsea are looking to decrease the average age of the players I guess the only place that will actually match Anelka's wage demands would be the MLS.

I think he is a good player; but I would imagine they are trying to reduce the age of their squad.
They have a significant core of key players who are all over 30.

Re: Chelsea bid for Lukaku
If I were Chelsea at this stage I would probably keep Anelka over Drogba given the choice. Perhaps Drogba gets a few more goals, but I tend to see Anelka as more versatile and he will take chances that come his way.
Obviously if he demands massive wages still at 32/33 then he may be best looking elsewhere, but well worth keeping around for me.

Re: Chelsea bid for Lukaku
They could do with bringing in a couple of younger players for key positions.
It is unrealistic to expect a 32/33 year old to play 30-40 games per season.
