606v2 golf promotion update
Well not so much an update but a general announcement following on from some of the other link ups in other sports.
Yesterday, McLaren posed a question to the admin on the Primetime link up thread about what we had planned for golf. So I thought I would let you know what my efforts have been so far.
I have contacted a few golf exclusive retailers/ manufacturers/ clubs etc and have had limited success so far.
Firstly, I have been in contact with a chain of courses in the south (they have 5 courses and hotels) - this is about the only real in progress thing at the moment. They are considering various things such as a 606v2 golf society rate as well as cross referencing from their site to ours. Its gone a little quiet but I will chase it up.
I have contacted some golfing brands but have been largely ignored (Ping, Taylor Made etc).
As to what happens next is really up to you guys and this is the point of this thread. If you have any ideas of what you would like, I would welcome you posting below or contacting me. I am more than happy to try my arm at getting you some exclusives.
One idea I had was a golf directory if you will. we set up a subsection where you can post the courses you have recently played or are members of. You could post reviews and images (according to site rules) for others to see. In this section, we could also approach clubs to join up and have a presence on the board. In other words, (silly example but bear with me) Wentworth could have their own thread that they control and post updates on, including exclusive offers for 606v2 members.
Over time, through club and member input, you could have a pretty comprehensive directory of UK courses that would attract new members to 606v2. As it grows, the like of PING etc would take notice and might reconsider freebies.
One caveat to this is that I can not do this all by myself. I am more than happy to talk to clubs, but if you members have contact details or can grease the wheels for me, it will help.
So that was my idea and I welcome any of your suggestions or comments.

I think the idea of of a golf directory is a good idea.it will help promote clubs that are in need of money in this currant economic climate.Living in Ireland it would be difficult to take advantage of these offers.

Well done Hobo on your efforts, despite the road blocks you must keep facing!
A golf directory is a fantastic idea and if you categorise it into regions that would be most useful. I posted a thread asking for info on courses just North of London and was recommended a lot of courses in an area that I had played very limited golf. I chose one of them (Hadley Wood) and it was a fantastic golf course from some really accurate recommendations from posters on here. Sometimes they do talk sense!

I think the directory is a great idea and will lead to deals in the future.
It would work like wikipedia - the members input the information on course details, unless a club signs up to affiliate rates for members, at which point thye could own that thread.
A bit of elbow grease from all.
I think it could be set up geographically or alphabetically.

Hobo, I would prefer geographically as the name of a course means very little if it is a 5 hour drive away! This would also be a good place to list any deals that people have seen on courses - as someone that plays a different course nearly every time I play, there is always a deal to be found and somewhere to list it might help others.

Any others think the directory would work/ would be good? If there is support, I will set up a template to use and put some guidelines together to make it easier for everyone.

really like the idea of user submitted course reviews but I was actually wondering if there were any plans to interview a golfer like some other sports and entertainment personalities have been.

Re: 606v2 golf promotion update
we had agreement from pat perez but he then went quiet on it.
I will be honest in that I have taken my eye off golf for the last week but will get back to it next week and chase pat.
A few of the euro guys may do it - I will see what I can do.
We have a mma Q&A this week lined up
