im a west ham fan, and am desperate to see us actually play some decent football this year..

If you only lose Parker then I'd say you are certain to bounce back.
Green, Faye, Tomkins, Nolan, Taylor, Collison, Noble, O'Neill, Cole and Barrera should definitely give any manager a good chance at challenging.
Think Birmingham will win the league, an you shouldn't be too far behind (2nd - 4th).

It's just keeping hold of them. If you start the season well and carry on form up to Christmas, a few Premier League clubs will come sniffing.

I think Allardyce will make you tough to beat and give you a good chance of bouncing back. His former teams were never known as attractive teams to watch though, so i thnik decent football might be a bit of a longer wait.
If you end up back in the premiership, i'm sure you'll forgive him though.

If they don't go up 1st season, I think they're in trouble.

I fancy them to bounce straight back up first time as they have, at this moment, the best squad with the finest players.
There is not a manager in this country better at waxing lyrical about himself so Fat Sam will fancy himself to take the Hammers back into the big time before Real Madrid or A.C Milan come calling!
But as has been suggested it won't be pretty especially away from home but it should be effective.

Think West Ham fans by and large have endorsed Sam as a good appointment, and certainly one that positions us near the head of the pack in the race to get back up. From what I see and hear, the way we play has become secondary to promotion being achieved in any which way. Alot of concern will be that we need to be top flight before we move to the Olympic Stadium or we'll be on a slippery slope of declining attendances and a massive stadium (plus debts taken out against it, debts existing, and no doubt debts our owners will acquire for us).
I think he has made some good signings and strengthened an already strong midfield (barring exodus) including Parker, Collison, Noble, Nolan, Taylor, Faubert. Strikers still bother me though, and even if Cole stays, I reckon we need another that is proven to get goals at Championship level.
Defensively I am comfortable with Tomkins, and even though he is a little crude, think Faye will do a job for us. We probably need a few more in as cover as it stands however. Can't believe our luck that Green has stayed thus far either!

Being West Ham fan I've really enjoyed the close season with no matches - no tables to stare gloomily at, no hopeless fixtures against chelsea etc coming up, no ruined saturdays .... Does anyone else get that feeling of relief in the close season - even after relegation?

If true that Spence is coming on loan to Bristol City, how wise is it? Because I imagine if he is loaned for the whole season there is a good chance that we could sign him next season. Apparantly he was guaranteed first team football which is why he re-signed with the hammers, if he knew he wouldnt be getting games i think he would have signed for us instead of a new contract

I think Big Sam has brought in quality signings and if you can get a decent goalscorer you should easily make the playoffs at least , but think you will go up automatically anyway .

he signed a new contract where it seemed he was told he would be getting 1st team football at West Ham, 1st season after re-signing and in a lower division he's being shipped out on loan, not exactly what he was expecting.

he may be highly thought of but if he's not getting games for you how long will he want to stick around?

Re: can allardyce turn westham into a strong outfit
so you believe he would play 2nd fiddle at west ham over 1st team football elsewhere because he has been there for years?
Now i'm not talking about us, but if another good team were looking for a right back and could guarantee him 1st team football everyweek your saying he still wouldnt leave because he's been there for years?

Yes, everyone at the club rates him highly. There is no way he would leave considering he could be future captain one day. He is going on loan to get experience. Im sure if we get an injury we will just recall him. West Ham think it is better for his development for him to play every week, and i agree. A permanent deal would be right out of the question
