Re: Boxing Magic moments
Nice idea, Seanus, and your blog is looking good, also.
How about these two from the 606v2 youtube boxing channel ?
Greatest punch of all time ? ( Robinson v Fullmer )
https://www.youtube.com/user/606v2#p/c/073B44CB39407002/60/rdROjwy34qU
Nicolino Locche - Untouchable
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LEKHMUCh8k&playnext=1&list=PL4BAA5E23FB10014C
Foreman v Lyle, ( rounds four and five ) and Dempsey v Firpo ( both rounds ) might also fit the bill.

Re: Boxing Magic moments
Not something that happened in the ring.
But Michael Watson completing the London marathon and being accompanied by Eubank on the last leg was a special moment.
Also Bruno finally winning the HW title and the first round between Hagler vs Hearns.

Re: Boxing Magic moments
A few suggestions, most of which you'll be able to find online.
For those 'wacky' or 'unusual' moments, how about the 'Fan Man incident' in the second Bowe-Holyfield bout in 1993? Tyson getting ear-hungry in his second fight with Holyfield in 1997 must be up there, too, or how about Malignaggi needing a hair cut in the middle of a world title bout against Lovemore N'Dou in 2008?
As for the timeline, well, you could probably make one yourself - but for my sins, I'm going to write up one I have in a publication by Harry Mullan in 1999 (so he gets the credit, may he rest in peace) and convert it in to a file for anybody who is interested. Will take me a while, though!

Re: Boxing Magic moments
Mine are obvious ones.
Harrison-Sprott
Fan man.
Tyson bite.
McCall crying.
The guy who kicked Bowe.
Bowe brawl.
Anything to do with Oliver Stone.
Witter/Cintron flying out of the ring.
Judah/May brawl.
Campbell knocked out by Peden.

Think what the site needs more than anything sean is a section reviewing boxing literature.

To echo Scott - Campbell-Peden is one of the funniest things I have ever seen, in or out of a boxing ring.
And jeff - if someone will send me books I'll happily review them in great depth

[quote="88Chris05"]Sorry, Seanusarrilius, but apparently I can't use this certain file type on v2. So that means I'll have to copy and past the time line I've written up for you. Let me know when you've got it saved at your end and then I'll delete the post, as it will clog up the page with its length otherwise! Only goes up to 1999 as that is when Mullan passed away, but I'm sure you'll ideas about what needs to be added. Here you go.

Haven't seen people rave so much about a boxer in a long time.

My magic moment would be Tyson being koed by Douglas. As much as I was upset at my hero being dropped, the feeling of disbelief that shot through my body at the site of the mighty Mike Tyson, this ferocious beast, looking human stunned me.

My only concern with Russell is how hard he can dig. Had hand injuries before - these could prove a problem in time.

he is defo being hyped scott, with all up and comers it will be a matter of how he performs against better opposition. HBO were very impressed with him altho not impressed enough to make the HBO Khan card mroe than a 1 fight show.
eddyfightfan - that was a classic wasn't it. I will be using loads of these in the coming weeks. Cheers

Re: Boxing Magic moments
Just to add to the list of magic moments - Frank Warren's face after any of his fighters lose - eg Warren's face when Fury finished laying a whupping on Chisora. Face like a slapped bum.
Priceless.

Re: Boxing Magic moments
if you're looking for real magic moments I guess, ali foreman, douglas tyson are two of the greats.
Chavez taylor for great comeback and controversy
for bizarre moments you have:
simon brown getting sparked by (vince pettway I think?) and still boxing whilst out on the floor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wNrB_V3PFc,
and the double knock down followed by jelly legged ko in bundrage v powell 1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV74hVB2Atc
and someone posted this tony Booth ko a few weeks ago that had me in stitches:

After Corrales being down for the second time, with a point deduction.

He looked great and lots of people are waxing lyrical about him, i will probably be doing a one to watch segment on him soon mate, early to tell but he is defo one to keep an eye on. Handspeed all day long
He will defo have to take on some bigger tests but he is the closest boxer I've seen to Meldrick Taylor

Be interesting to see how he fairs against credible opposition, he's fought 16 tomato cans and Estrada (good W column but limited experience) so far. Good amateur pedigree though and certainly looks exciting, if untested. Hopefully as he's still young he'll still be in the division if/when Donaire moves up, that could be a cracking fight!

Clicked on this thread with the intention of mentioning Corrales-Castillo, but been beaten to it. That performance showed guts and determination in its purest form.
