JETS WHEELING AND DEALING Empty JETS WHEELING AND DEALING

Post by GangGreen Wed 27 Jul 2011, 11:27 am

I know alot of people will call me crazy and this is all just wishful thinking but I believe the jets are going to get Santonio Holmes signed no problem and are gonna get Nnamdi Asomugha too.
In his book Ryan gives a lot of praise to Mike Tannenbaum and his ability to get players signed and with players across the league wanting to play for Rex thats a good combo.
Just think of that CB combination! Revis and Asomugha shutting down both sides of the field and Blitzs coming from everywhere.
Just had to write all this somewhere cos I'm just excited that I can talk football again after months of lockout

Oh and for good measure Braylon is willing to give us a home town discount. Happy days!

So from what I've heard you don't have the money to match Cromarties wage demands but you can afford Asomugha? Wishful thinking there.

I think asomugha will take less money to be on a more competitive team but i doubt theyl have an extra 15 million to sign him. i also reckon theyl struggle to keep holmes with dann snyder in town.
I think edwards will be back though

You can't spend double digits on a pair of corners when your QB is on a heft salary and your paying out to younger guys like D'Brikshaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, David Harris etc... and would like to resign your WR's

Jets media is just trying to create a New York story because Sanchez said he would happy to take a pay cut (from a hefty $14m base).
Not going to happen...

With the additional cap relief don't rule it out, but I agree it will be hard to pay everyone, especially if they keep Holmes.

Not sure how much room they will have left after the Holmes signing. He apparently has $24m in guaranteed money, the most ever for a WR.

this is starting to look very exciting! unfortunatly we look to be losing Braylon but although I like him I would be happier to get Asomugha. Bit of an upgrade on Cro

Looks like Braylon is going. The room is being made for the big signing!

Various sources... "Sanchez is scheduled to make $14.5 million this season in the third year of a five-year deal, and incentives could push his contract’s value to $17.75 million."
Its what happens when these high pick QB's get into their contracts... The numbers are astronomical and i'm rather glad the new CBA will be stopping this from continuing.
It basically implies that Matt Stafford is on about $16-18m this year

Obviously a Revis-Aso tandem would be epic, but do Jets really need more help on the defensive side of things? Surely they would be better off bulking up their offence with someone like Sidney Rice?

Have the Jets signed up the rookies yet?

As far as i'm aware no... but there all later picks as they were at number 29/30 each round so wont be overtly pricey (but nobody will be this year!)

Rice followed Jackson and his old OC to Seattle. As the Jets have re-signed Holmes, and are chasing Namdi I doubt they have the money to go after another big name WR.

I think Aso could come in quite handy, with the options Brady is going to have to throw to this year. I just hope Wilson steps up aswell.
