I'm probably going to take so much stick for this from the traditionalists but I picked up my iPing cradle at lunchtime. Basically my iPhone 4 slots into the cradle and the cradle clips onto the putter shaft. The iPing app is free to download

I can now get feedback during my putting sessions on tempo, impact angle (relative difference to address angle) and stroke type (straight back & through or arc'd and by how much). Brilliant little tool for grooving a consistent stroke (well that's the plan). Anyone else got it? Tried it?

Interesting idea. Does the weight of the phone make much difference to the stroke?? I would have thought that would have had too much effect to make the results of much use.

Methinks you think tooooooooooo much about your putting.

A nonchalant one handed tap in works better every time.

Doon, I think waaaay too much about golf period!! Although as a 7 handicapper aspiring to Cat 1 and early season putting stats of 36 ppr I do think my putting needed some thought and I'm prepared to leave no stone unturned. From memory I had a fairly good putting day at Darley (that was the first weekend after the shaft had been trimmed). Since the trim I'm averaging 32 but still more improvement required.

Just finished a session with it, was rattling in 10 footers for fun however I don't appear to have very consistent stroke so I'm currently relying on timing.

Even though you putted well in our game I sensed weakness with 4 footers.
I remember having a long session on the practice green with Barry Sandry after I had caddied for him in the County Pro's Champ and he had let a good lead slide away on the second round with missed 4 footers.
Like you he seemed to be doing every thing right. I remember the session ended with lots of head scratching from the pair of us. Then I asked him when he last had his eyes tested~ Bingo

hmmm now theres a thing...after years of having a set of normal glasses and a set of reading glasses (I'm very long sighted) I moved to varifocals over the winter (I was fed up leaving expensive reading glasses on buses/trains etc). You do get a certain amount of distortion from varifocals.
