WC TV rights - Who is showing it
First topic message reminder :
Just a quick question - Who is showing the WC in the UK?
Is it SKY or BBC or ESPN?

Thomond wrote:I have them anyway so it's grand, don't know how many I will see with the time difference although I believe the earliest the majority of games kick off is half 6 which isn't too bad. Of course there are some at half 3 and half 4.
The earliest one I believe is at 2 in the morning.
Have you got Setanta?

While I like Fitzpatrick and Lynagh as pundits, I'm not sure about the others in the line up. I'm presuming Thom Evans will be for games like Romania vs Georgia?

Re: WC TV rights - Who is showing it
I like Andrew Cotter the Scottish commentator who is always paired with Jonathan Davies.
I also like the Welsh one, who used to do the ITV games. He's been around many years.
Gareth Charles maybe?

Alyn,
That's Gareth Charles and he is a good commentator. Along with Andrew Cotter and Eddie Butler, they have a better stable of commentators and you'd think they'd do a much better job covering the World Cup.

Haha, I should of updated sooner, I was hunting rugby games on my hard drive to find him! Finally found the Welsh commentator on the Wales Vs Samoa game in 2009!

John Taylor who was the lead commentator for ITV up until 2007 when Miles Harrison and Clive Tylsley(sp) were both put ahead of him though I'm not sure why. I like him.

ITV coverage is a bit pants because of the adverts, but I'm not complaining. It's on Cheapview (even the England matches ) and that's all that matters!

ITV and ITV4. Just those two I believe.
That's right, just on ITV1 and ITV4

I spent quite a few nights drinking with JT in 2001 and 2005 and even sat next to him on the flight from Invercargill to Christchurch. And bizarrely met him again at the top of the Peak in Hong Kong in 2006. He also broke a few state laws in Australia where he was on the toilet when the plane landed.

didnt remember BK was already an AB!
now listen to the commentary at approx 01min30s : "france, they are still experimenting as they attempt to find a back division that can recapture the old flair..."
12 years later: one backrow turned manager and the same situation remains : must be a good sign for the coming month

It's not Barnes. Just look up the page and you'll see who ITV presentation team is.
