Verdasco is a mental midget
Verdasco is the biggest mental midget in the world.
Or should that be the smallest mental midget in the world?
As I type He has just meekly surrendered the openning set to The Nadull.
Verdasco broke The Nadull twice and on both occasions he lamely handed the breaks back. In one game he managed to make three double faults.
Then in the tie breaker he was 5-3 up with two serves to come.
Guess what? Yep.. you got it. Fernando 'The Fiasco' Verdasco double faulted the first point, then made a mess of a simple volley in the second point and finally made an UE to hand the set to The Nadull.
This guy is a joke.

And the fiasco continues.
Leading 5-3 and serving for the set, Fernando predictably self-destructs with a glut of DF's and UE's.
How pathetic.

He definetly is an underachiever for the talent that he has. But right now he is giving Rafa a fight.

He is actually winning the majority of points off the baseline and is threatening in every one of Rafa's service games, but then inexplicably self-destructs at the crucial points.

Finally Verdasco wins a set against The Nadull.
This is a long match, over two hours already.

Rafa doesn't look right, he just doesn't have the same fire in the belly it seems.

Re: Verdasco is a mental midget
O..M..G just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, Verdasco, leading 3-2 with the break, promptly goes on an UE spree and hands back the break immediately.
There is no way that Verdasco will win this match. The Nadull will have to lose it.

I don't know what is it with the Spanish players when they play nadal.....Looks like they all collectively affected by sort of deferential respect which leads inevitably to the handing over the match......

Re: Verdasco is a mental midget
I'll never understand why Verdasco, who's capable of serving at 130-135mph when he wants to, seems to roll 90% of his first serves in at barely 110mph...

However, I will give him kudos for just hitting a forehand winner at 110mph!

Man.. that was a fearsome FH.
But I fear it will all be to no avail.
The moment has arrived for Verdasco to do his routine big choke.

This is basically a case of who's going to choke the least - both players missed forehands by about 2 yards in the last 2 points!

Re: Verdasco is a mental midget
True to form Fernando 'The Fiasco' Verdasco choked multiple times to hand The Nadull a much undeserved victory.
I don't think I've ever seen 'The Nadull' play so poorly in a tiebreaker as he did in the final set TB today, yet, The Fiasco, still managed to lose.
It was never in doubt folks.
At least Fernando maintains his unblemished, unchallenged record of being the world's number 1....
Mental Midget.
Vamos el-Fiasco.
ps. now I can finally watch a real tennis match as opposed to a 3 hr 37 minute choke fest.

Re: Verdasco is a mental midget
That was truly pathetic from Verdasco. He seems to have no idea of when to reign in his forehand a bit, and just kept blazing shots miles out. Nadal looked pretty awful to be honest; I'd be surprised if he makes it to the latter stages of the tournament based on that display.

Seriously,
that was a horrible match.
Rafa played awful.
I wounder what the UE stats show.
The final TB in particular was just a case of both guys choking to death.
It was horrific.
Rafa really needs to shape up.
At least it can't get any worse than this. Who knows, this may dial him in for the rest of the tourney.

Re: Verdasco is a mental midget
Yep Chaz, he has no idea of controlled aggression. It's all out every time. When they go in they look spectacular, but he misses far too many.
I think he had over 60 UE's in three sets
That'd be over 100 in a five set match

Re: Verdasco is a mental midget
That was absolutely sh** standard for a Masters event, but then this is the brilliant Golden Era isn't it socal??
I'm glad I only caught the last few points of this epic mug-clash.
Nadal should've just withdrawn from this tournament if this is the level of play he is going toc arry on with.

Re: Verdasco is a mental midget
Nitb,
I actually ended up feeling a little sorry for him.
It was as if Rafa handed the match to him on a plate half a dozen times yet Fernando still managed to lose it.
Tragic is a fitting term.
