...was three years ago. THREE YEARS! Not sure this is really worth a new topic, but damn that's depressing. I can remember it like it was yesterday...where has the time gone??

Sport moves on, new stars adorn the firmament.

Precisely why I savour every moment of what I have in front of me. This moment is never coming back. Hug

Verdasco is a better tennis player than Rafa on hardcourts, but unfortunately thats how it goes, Rafa never gives up where as Nando gave up.

Verdasco's match against Nadal at AO was one of the best i ever saw for a long time. Can't think of any player playing that well and losing before. A very underated performance from him in the history books.

Yes Verdasco tends to give up after the first point. Doh

Verdasco was seen by some to be the future of tennis a few years back but sadly didn't live up to expectations.

Having said that he has had some great times, lifting the Davis Cup for Spain in Argentina, as well as the long five setter against Rafa at the AO a few years back.

What's your point? Verdasco could still be a better player on hard courts. Tsonga's more natural than Murray. Murray more than Nadal. Talent without Application = A very disappointing career

Verdasco's problem is all in the ego, he can't stop himself from going for audacious low percentage shots and it's all in his testosterone. If he was a bit calmer he would've beaten Nadal in 09, and Tomic this week.

My point is if Verdasco is the better hardcourt player, what evidence do you have to back this up ? As their hardcourt h2h and titles won suggests otherwise:-

Observation... Otherwise why ever watch any tennis when you can just use statistics to conclude everything.

I guess that comes down to whether or not you think the better player always wins.

Not always, but if you're the better player and 12 - 0 down in the h2h you're gonna have to come up with something to explain that particular stat.

Well I'm not going to try and defend this particular case. Maybe Verdasco was the better player in that one match which unfortunately I didn't see. I haven't seen enough of Verdasco to say he's a better player than Nadal, maybe the people who'd observed them both have though.

Seems to me Federer fans sometimes says things to make themselves happy. Perhaps Verdasco is a better player than Nadal, Break in the fifth, however i'm sure you'll agree he has to start winning a few of their matches?

Shot by shot I've always thought Verdasco is a better player than Nadal, but unfortunately it's all about the mental side of the game and this is where Verdasco massively loses out.

Headscratch I don't how how you come up with this stuff. Have you seen his backhand?? And his forehand is much more unreliable than Nadals.

Verdasco is better player in hardcourt was in sense of his gamestyle and not by performance. Nando almost everything to be a successfull player in HC except for confidence of beating top players and belief in winning key moments.

Yes Rafa is a way better player when it comes to performance, coz like I mentioned before he never gives up where as Nando gives up. The Genius of Rafa is that he will win on any court surface even if the game is not suited for his style.

You can see the percentage of title won on clay to hardcourt to compare how much HC is not suited for his style play, if only Rafa had the game of Nando for hardcourts he would have atleast 3 times the title by now.

Your original quote which I disputed was:- "Verdasco is a better tennis player than Rafa on hardcourts"

You now say:- "Verdasco is better player in hardcourt was in sense of his gamestyle"

If this is what you meant to say then I can't dispute it, as it's subjective, but in my defence you didn't mention "gamestyle" in your original quote.

Look Nadal is simply better than Verdasco on all surfaces. Theres no chance Nadal would have the same amount of titles with the backhand Verdasco has, or with the inconsistent forehand.
