Surrey V Leics CC
The full Surrey squad to play Leicestershire at Grace Road in the LV= County Championship is:
Rory Hamilton-Brown (Captain)
Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper)
Mark Ramprakash
Zander de Bruyn
Tom Maynard
Jason Roy
Zafar Ansari
Gareth Batty
Chris Jordan
Pragyan Ojha
Stuart Meaker
Tim Linley
Matthew Dunn
Dunn and the Gaffer miss out
New signing Ojha goes straight into the team (not that I even knew we'd signed him!)
Leics win the toss and bat first

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
We signed Ohja a while ago but he got called up as cover for Harbhajan so he hasn't been able to play until now. Hopefully he'll give us some penetration later in the game. Shows the confidence in the accuracy of Meaker and Jordan by Brain opening the bowling! Probably a good choice to be fair, don't want them getting off to a flyer due to too many loose deliveries.

Yes, missed the commentary so don't know if they were good shots, he's just conceded another one but this was a big outside edge to third man.

I think I might have a slight man crush on the Viscount
Great catch from Maynard in the slips apparently

Brain in on the act, 37/4!
Meaker was about to bowl the over and then Hyphen changed his mind and gave Brain another one and he got a wicket! Well done skip!

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
I would have preferred Clive to Jordan, if I'm honest.
Anyway, Jordan and Meaker now bowling which has relieved some of the pressure with 2 completely inexperienced players at the crease. Meaker has bowled some decent deliveries past the edge but Jordan seems to be struggling. Again.

I think most of us would prefer to see Clive given another chance, and especially against the weakest team in the league!
Meaker gets one at last - 5 down now!

83-5 at lunch would certainly have settled for that, but need the Viscount on immediately after lunch to make more inroads

The Brain with his second wicket, 96/6. I was just about to say I was disappointed that he was bowling straight after lunch!

Surrey will retain the registration of current overseas signing Yasir Arafat, as ECB regulations allow for a county to sign two overseas players simultaneously but only field one of them at any one time.

Come on Hyphen, get the Viscount on to finish this off - Jordan could bowl all day and he won't get a wicket!

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
Jordan should have had a wicket, Buck was dropped by the Brain. Still waiting for the last wicket, 9 overs and counting now. Why not get Viscount or Meaker on? Ohja and Jordan continuing.
Never mind, Ohja gets the last one, 167 all out.

It seems like a below par score seeing as though they won the toss, but we thought that against Kent!

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
My first day off work for 3 weeks and it conincides with a top bowling performance. Good to see we manage to finish them off as we often get in a good position and then let the lower order wag!
Hope everyone is ok, great to see us into the semi's of the CB40 to keep our season alive, whatever happens from here I think we can all agree progress has been made thios year

Pretty good day that, they chose to bat and we got them for 167, only 45 behind already. Hopefully there isn't a second day like there was last time out against Kent!

A pretty good day indeed, Carrot.
I was in London all day at one of our sister salt mines. Weather was so bad there I never thought they would get started at Grace Road. Hope we can continue to dodge the rain!

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
Evening all. We did remarkably well to get all that play considering the forecast.
Just watched the highlights on the Surrey website. Henderson's dismissal was quite entertaining - strolling outside his crease while waiting a decision on the LBW shout. So I suppose Jordan could claim half of that wicket.
Pleased that Davies is back in the runs - it feels like a long time since he scored a first class century. If Ohja is any good at all it's surprising he's not been in the Indian team
Crucial that we bat with real application tomorrow. No more predictions of a big lead after what I posted after the first day against Kent

237-4 at lunch - not a bad session for us, and with Davies well set and Roy menacingly poised on 31 I'm looking forward to 400 by tea!

Lets hope that this good form continues for Davies and he can make at least one more Championship century this season, although it's probably too late for him to make the winter tours.
