'River' Jordan out for 16, no wickets either. That early 'promise' just hasn't materialised

Gooch
Arafat and Batty have both contributed with the bat a few times this season (probably keeping them in the side), but I agree that without Arafat and with Jordan rubbish with the bat (and ball) this season, our tail does look weak.

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
A useful 40 from Nora in the end, and for all her knockers (oooer missus!) she's..........sorry, he's got a bowling ave of just over 30 and a batting ave of just under 30, not bad in comparison to others who get no stick at all! 176 run lead and I know it's a bit churlish to be criticising that but we really need a full points win here
I don't think we'll see Arafat again now jbd - despite retaining him!

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
All out for 343. Shame not to get at least the extra batting point for 350, and I guess now we will have to bat again, but the possible alternative of getting up to 500 by close of play just might have left us with less chance of sealing the win *if* the weather forecast is right and there's limited play Thurs and Friday.
Leicestershire's batting (and our bowling!) will be put to the test in the next 40 overs. Potentially a deciding spell.

Apparently Jefferson was caught by the Brain off Jordan... but it was a no ball
So, once again, we rely on the Viscount, who has obliged with the wicket of Boyce so far...

Thanks for that contribution, JimBob. Whatever the subject, you always manage to raise the quality of the debate
Players now off for bad light with Leics on 35 -1. Looks like the weather will be our strongest opponent as we push for a win to keep our slim promotion hopes alive ....

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
Well, we are clearly on top with the biggest obstacle looking like the weather.
Whilst I'm obviously pleased by our position, I'm also a bit miffed that we didn't get full batting points. With all due respect (which as usual means hardly any), as I've said before Leics are a pretty dreadful side - Big Claude and the missing Little Jimmy excepted.
A fine knock by Davies and great to see him with three figures by his name for the first time in too long. However, I would have liked more from the others. Whilst Roy's 40 odd was more than useful, disappointed that he didn't kick on.
That said, the lead obtained and the second innings wickets taken by Viscount (54 and still counting) and Nora should be enough to get us a win tomorrow if only the weather holds ....

Meanwhile, ''a £25 million goal from Robin van Persie'' (Peter Drury).
Perhaps worth even more than that to JimBob?

Well another good day then, all in all. Great for Davies to get a hundred but would have loved to see Roy get a few more, disappointing that he holed out to long on, he shouldn't be making it so easy to dismiss him.

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
Agree with all the above comments (well at least those related to cricket ) Good job West Ham supporters are unbowed by horrendous results (eg WH 0 Aldershot 1)
Batty continues to chip with useful runs and scattering of wickets. He's probably a shoe in for the Surrey end of season award for the player who turned out to be not nearly as bad as we feared.

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
looking at the weather forecast, maybe it was a good thing we didn't spend too long batting today! With a bit of luck we may get 2 sessions tomorrow to take 8 wickets & knock of any outstanding runs Friday's weather for Leicester looks unless you're a Middx supporter
have to disagree with the Corporal about the footie tonight! excellent result for the Hammers... can now concentrate on the championship

Chichester - if the weather in Leicester is anything like that here this morning, the only cricket being played will be of the Subbuteo or Owzat type!

Re: Surrey V Leics CC
Absolute farce!
No play as yet despite sun being out and some breeze this morning following heavy overnight rain. Players warmed up on the outfield before the scheduled 11:00 start without any problems. However, the umpires noticed a damp area around 10:45 which the groundstaff had apparently missed. A sopersopper (whatever that is!) is now drying the offending area. Churchy is convinced that if this had been spotted earlier, we would have been underway on time.
So annoying to lose playing time now given the bad weather predicted later today and tomorrow ....

I can believe that guildford. Our Player of the Season is quite metronomic and rarely bowls no balls

River now in his 29th over (more than anyone in the match!?) still wicketless!
These two have made the highest stand in this match and are nearly at parity with Surrey
Jefferson closing in on a century
This has all the hallmarks of another Surrey cóck up
