A moral dilema
Ok, bear with me on this one...
I support the Dragons and my housemate has followed Ulster for a long time.Another friend of ours moved to Cardiff and started to follow the Blues.
We thought we'd make the Magners league more interesting by whoever's team did the best out of us the other people would buy them a crate of Magners at the end of the season (Ulster did the best out of us last season)
My new English housemate wanted to join in so asked what team he should pick for next season - we said anyone but Leinster/Munster as you have no geographical ties with them and they usually win. He picked Ospreys - not likely to win but likely to do better than Ulster/Dragons.
I've started seeing an Irish girl from Dublin, shes a Leinster fan and wants to play too. Obviously she'll very probably win it out of our teams - my friends argued that we may as well give her her prize now. I told her this and she kicked off - shes supported Leinster for aaages and doesnt see why she can't choose them.
Any help/ideas/suggestions would be hugely appreciated !

Re: A moral dilema
well, you can let her join and concede that shell probably win, but get extra brownie points, although as your mates arent going out with her, i doubt theyll agree to this. Or, you can have a pint of carlsberg and put your mates first and tell her that the men have got this sorted. Or you could fake your own death and run away to tiajuana and never have to confront this situation.
my personal choice would be the third option.

Re: A moral dilema
Let her play and then break up with her at the end of the season if Leinster are winning. Then it's just going to be too awkward for her to ask for the crate of Bulmers...or Magners! EASY! Next problem!!
As an aside though, should you not be changing the bet to everyone having to chip in to a Rabo-direct fund or something now?

If you do not want to see his comments, you can use the 'foe feature'.

Put the 8 teams that aren't "affiliated" to anyone (so not Ulster, Cardiff, Dragons or Leinster) in a hat and allow everyone to pick 1 of the teams. That way when Dragons play you will be behind the Dragons, but then if you pick out Edinburgh you'll start supporting them in all their games too.
Obviously Dragons Vs Ulster or whoever is going to be a big match in your household already, but all of a sudden Glasgow Vs Treviso could turn into a huge match!
I normally pick a minnow in one of the World Cup pools (other than England's) to support, just to give otherwise meaningless games a bit of spice, I'm already going to be up for England anyway.

Re: A moral dilema
Too complicated.
All depends upon what she looks like.
If real cute, give her Leinster.
Not so much, give her Scarlets.
If only a parent would love (you excluded), then give her..........well..........Celtic Crusaders (thats the RL team right?).

Lie
Tell her its fine for her to join with Leinster
Tell your mates you told her she can't cause she's a girl
Make sure they never meet again.
IF Leinster win buy a crate for her out of your own pocket and no ones the wiser.

Re: A moral dilema
Or have them all enter a tipping comp (see https://www.606v2.com/t11914-rugby-prediction-games#397349) and let the winner of that take the prize. It means you'll have a team to cheer for in every match too.

Re: A moral dilema
To be honest its a RWC season let her join in with Leinster, as they will lose players to the RWC, 6Ns and HC this season so they shouldn't do as well in the Rabo.

Re: A moral dilema
So will the Dragons, a d ouble edged sword.
Unfortunately Munster/Leinster will have lots of over seas mercanaries to replace their International players.

Re: A moral dilema
Or give her Leinster with a handicap and she only wins if they are above Ulster/Dragons/Ospreys by say 15 points in the league - otherwise the next highest team wins. Would increase her passion for Leinster to do well, and keep it interesting til the end while giving the other teams a chance

Re: A moral dilema
Take last years table. Look at the finishing position of each team and take 1 away. That’s the handicap for each team.
So Aironi have a 11 point headstart, Treviso 10… Leinster 1, Munster 0.
She must be a hot tomale if she’s a Leinster fan by the way

As its no longer the Magners league, I think you need to change the prize to a RaboProdirect bank account for the winner!
