Re: Saul Alvarez
Think he's quality so far in my opinion. Though not been in with anyone of any serious substance just yet he is young and they are building him up slowly, he'll be a top p4per in my opinion later on.
One little thing, I think he may have a slightly shaky chin however... Jose Cotto caught him and his hardly a noted puncher and had him in trouble and Rhodes backed him up after landing a couple of times, not sure whether his punch resistance is up to snuff but he is still young and maturing and punch resistance usually gets better as you get older... then worse again baha

On a side note: I think that if he switched trainers to Freddie Roach and had Alex Ariza as a conditioner that would make him extremely scary.... He's not the finished article just yet but looks good.

Re: Saul Alvarez
Improving near enough every time I see him which is what you want from a guy his age and he's huge at 154lbs.
Good hand speed, decent enough defence, good power which should improve with age, nice footwork and he puts his punches together very well. Looks a future P4P star to me which I was saying before the Rhodes fight which a lot of people disagreed with.

I think that was on the back of the Hatton win, which he didn't look very impressive in. Although it was for the WBMexico belt I get a feeling he wasn't really motivated to train.... He actually didn't make the weight limit came in overweight think he was poor in that fight why most people immediately jumped to the first conclusion of shouting "hype job" whenever they seem something not perfect.

It was also his first fight above 147lbs.

Re: Saul Alvarez
I think that proves he wasn't motivated... He was fighting at 147 he jumps up to 154 and is I think it was 3 pounds over the limit, definitely didn't train properly, which is slightly worrying....

Re: Saul Alvarez
The Hatton fight was a catch weight of 150lbs and the Alvarez camp knew Hatton wouldn't pull out over a couple of lbs. Similar to Mayweather-Marquez.

I think Freddie already has enough on his plate at the moment

I know Freddie is loved but I would like to see him team up with Nazim Richardson he is a very good tactical trainer

Also, Roach coaches Chavez Jr and he wouldn't train both especially with a 'super-fight' no doubt on the promoter's minds!

Re: Saul Alvarez
he looks huge for his weight, and wins a lot of rounds on work rate alone, never see his slack of. i think he will be p4p one day and look forwards to watching his career progress.
