surrey vs durham clydesdale bank 40
Pragyan Ojha has been included in the fourteen man squad to face the Durham Dynamos in the Clydesdale Bank 40 at the Kia Oval on Monday 29th September.
Ojha's inclusion means that Yasir Arafat does not feature in the squad, as Surrey can only name one of their two registered overseas players at any one time. Chris Jordan is also included in the fourteen, and replaces Jade Dernbach, who has been selected in both of England's limited overs squads to face India.
Victory for Surrey will see the side equal the club's record of eleven successive wins in domestic List A competition, a record set between the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
The full Surrey Lions squad to face Durham at the Kia Oval on Bank Holiday Monday 29th August is:
Rory Hamilton-Brown (Captain) Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper) Jason Roy, Tom Maynard, Zander de Bruyn, Matthew Spriegel, Zafar Ansari,Pragyan Ojha, Gareth Batty, Stuart Meaker, Tim Linley, Chris Jordan, Chris Schofield, Gary Wilson
for me river and the drink carrier are two to miss out not sure on the 3rd one
and has arafat played his last game for surrey?

Re: surrey vs durham clydesdale bank 40
Difficult to say who will miss out. If Ojha plays I imagine it will be with a view to replacing that same player in the CB40 Semifinal if he settles into a limited overs role quickly.
Drinks carrier bound to miss out. "River" Jordan might well actually play if Ojha were to play instead of, say, Ansari or one of the other batting spinners. (Pity we haven't got a poor player beginning with C -if so he could be known as "Dead Sea"!)
I think one of Viscount and Meaker will be on the bench.

Jim Bob or should I say DepressedJimBob - thanks for the thread. Stick with cricket for now, eh?
I'm pretty sure Ojha will play. If Adams had any doubts, I would have expected him to name Arafat in the squad as well. I appreciate only one ''overseas'' can actually play but I assume two can be named in a squad - after all, Adams is under no obligation to even name a squad.
Ojha's place weakens the batting which increases the chances of ''River'' coming in.
So who to miss out? ''Sergeant'' Wilson for sure. My guess for the other two would be one of the Viscount and Meaker and one of Ansari or Schofield.
All thoroughly thought out and no doubt entirely wrong!

Wilson definitely won't play and I would go for Jordan and Ansari as the others to miss out.

Jimbo was gutted yesterday
Jimbob was gutted today

I just wanted to alert Surrey supporters to the separate thread on the cricket page about how to improve the cricket part of 606v2. For example, whether to get rid of separate page for each county, or even the county page altogether.
I do think county discussions (except of course for Surrey!) tend to get a bit lost. If they were more visible there might be more chance of generating debate and attracting passing trade.....

Is this the last match in the group stage?
If so it seems to be that him or Arafat is totally dependant on his performance in this match (and Meaker/Jordan's for if they can be a second seamer)

Re: surrey vs durham clydesdale bank 40
With Meaker and Jordan it would appear to be 'who can be the least terrible' although Meaker at least has the potential to have a good day, Jordan does not. I want the Viscount to play, he will surely do better than either and Arafat.

This game's on Sky and I'm at home, which is lovely! Although it doesn't matter if we lose I really hope we win to keep our momentum going into the semi finals.

Enjoy your day, Carrot! Does this mean monkeys don't need to eat on Bank Holidays?
I think the point about momentum is quite important. Although too much is sometimes made about psychological aspects, it would be far better to go into the semi having won eleven on the bounce (as Jeff Stelling would say) rather than having lost our last CB40 match.
I'm sure Her Majesty will have given the Corporal a much deserved day off. Hopefully, he will be able to join us at times today unless he has been seconded for transport duties by Junior Humblebuckets!

Morning Guildford & Carrot.
Yes, our rations may have been frozen for several years but when the banks are shut quite rightly the barracks are closed as well ....
Am visiting senior Humblebuckets later today so will unfortunately miss most of the match.....

Just seen the team.....not confident at all! Viscount, Wilson and Ansari miss out. Our seam attack consists of Meaker, Jordan and The Brain....
Durham batting first.

Not sure if it's worth watching this, it will be a big score. 24 off the first 9 balls.

This is all going to depend on how our spinners bowl outside of the powerplays, hopefully we can stem the run flow and take some wickets...

How. How is Jordan a better option than Linley? Really don't understand. This is just plain awful.

Yeah, good test for the batsman to have to chase down over 300! To be honest our bowling has been generally poor this competition apart from Dernbach and Arafat once or twice. Our batting has won us our matches and will have to do so again today.

Jimbob - maybe the thinking is that The Viscount is "in the zone" in the cc and they don't want him to get disrupted in the knock about of one day stuff?

De Bruyn seems to be by far our best bowler - there's no way he can be dropped despite his slow scoring rate.

Regarding Linley's non selection, it could be that they know what he gives and so they want to try out the other two to see what they can do.

2 wides for Meaker in this over and bowling to Collingwoods pads to allow him to get easy 2's into the leg side. Know who you're bowling to!

Every single delivery either down leg side or into the pads. I don't understand it, it's not rocket science to know that Collingwood pretty much only scores off his pads.

As good as our batting is, there is no way in hell they'll bowl as badly as us so we'll never chase down 350+. Against this bowling I think our batting could get over 400!
