surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
so on to the second final of the week
Chris Adams has named a fourteen man squad for the Clydesdale Bank 40 Final against Somerset at Lord’s on Saturday 17th September.
Jade Dernbach returns from International duty and is added to the same squad that defeated the Sussex Sharks in the semi-final. Dernbach is the Surrey Lions’ leading wicket taker in the CB40 this year, with 19 dismissals already to his name at an impressive average of 15.47.
The full Surrey squad to face Somerset in the CB40 Final at Lord’s on Saturday 17th September is:
Rory Hamilton-Brown (Captain)
Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper)
Jason Roy
Tom Maynard
Zander de Bruyn
Matthew Spriegel
Zafar Ansari
Chris Schofield
Gareth Batty
Yasir Arafat
Jade Dernbach
Tim Linley
Stuart Meaker
gary wilson
so drink carrier to do what he does best and two more from zaffer, the viscount and meaker to miss out.
hard call for me on the two to miss out maybe the viscount and meaker?

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
JimBob - thanks for setting up another thread. As Carrot said last night, it's really been good to chat and joke about Surrey, cricket in general and all sorts of other things on these threads throughout the season. Good as well to have so many of the old gang on here plus some newbies and distinguished guests like ChrisfromStroud. A few ''care in the community'' types do seem to be finding their way to 606 v2 but I suppose that's sadly inevitable as things take off.
I agree with you about the three most likely to miss out. I think there's a clue as to how the fourteen have been listed by Adams (same order as your thread).
One person who would be exceptionally unlucky to miss out is Matt Spriegel. According to Johnny Barran (Churchy's fellow broadcaster who certainly seems to know his stuff), Spriegel has never missed a CB40 game since making his debut in 2008 - that stat really surprised me!
Also good for us that Somerset had a full day's cricket today and ended up losing!

its gonna be a very good game, but im thinking that somerset will probably win the game, its going to be very enjoyable to watch, but even if tres isnt fit then, somerset have a very good batting line up, and also alfonso, and kartik with the ball, they are very strong.

An economy rate of 6.2 in List A cricket

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
I'd take an economy of 6.2 if I played most of my list A matches at the Oval!
More importantly though, Dernbach is a wicket-taker, and nothing slows down scoring like taking wickets.

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
A very good morning to Corporal, JimBob, Tibor, Carrot (probably feeding monkeys now but he'll no doubt be reading later), Goochie, JimBoHammers amd the rest of the usual gang.
Weather is fine here (Guildford way) at the moment, Corporal, but I guess it could be changeable. A bit like Tuesday in fact when I went to the Oval - so quite possibly a couple of showers but I don't think it'll be too bad for anyone.
A lot of us believe the Surrey website overeggs the pudding. I can tell you we're not alone. I looked on the Somerset one yesterday. Now keep in mind they had just been hammered by 8 wickets as Lancs raced to victory and the County Championship by scoring well over 200 in about 23 overs. Anyway, the lead article was headed: ''Trego Century makes Lancs Work For Title''!

Have a great day, JimBob.
I couldn't make it today but watching this morning on Sky. Nick Knight has expressed surprise we left out both the Viscount and Meaker - I think that just shows we know our team a lot better!

It's a tie!
That's the result of the six Sky pundits anyway.
Ian Ward, Nick Knight and Robert Key go for Surrey.
Paul Allott, Mike Atherton and ''Turncoat'' Willis go for Somerset ....

Greetings to Hodge and Liam from me as well.
Corporal - Your comment about Key is interesting. Adams and Key are often praising the other on tv. I just wonder. There again, I can't see Key coping with our fitness regime.
Meanwhile, a much needed wicket (already) of Tresco by Spriegel. I was about to post that Spriegel should bowl a deliberate wide to try for a stumping. Didn't need to even give a run away for a wide ....

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
Two misfields in consecutive balls by Schoey off Dernbach cost 3 runs!
An earlier misfield by him cost a single!
Hmmm ....

The Gaffer catches Trego off Dernbach! Good catch running in.
56 - 3 0ff 11.1.
Somerset have a decent run rate but we have the wickets and the box seats (currently!) ....

After these two, there is not much batting, so it might be worth Dernbach coming back for a few overs in an attempt to get a wicket.

Important wicket as a useful partnership was being developed for Somerset!

Re: surrey vs somerset Clydesdale Bank 40 Final
8 overs left. 161 - 7.
If all goes well, 4 overs on the bounce now from Arafat with 1 from Nora and 3 from Dernbach at the other end. Sprigs, Schoey and Gaffer have bowled 16 overs between them and effectively made up two bowlers.
Hyphen has judged it well - so far ....
