It was when he started to lose his hair, filming near Edinburgh about 1964.
Nice guy, seemingly did not give a fig about being recognised.
Mind you Dame Doon always says that she would pity the innocent man if I was ever called up to an identity parade.

Met Shane Long up in Birmingham on saturday night.
Really nice guy, had a picture taken with him and had a chat, bought him a drink to.
Makes a difference to some other footballers who might have told me to f off.

He's a good lad, had a quick chat about Estonia games.
Being a Villa fan I apologised for Hutton's tackle on him, he smiled and said these things happen.
Was hoping to bump into some of the Villa squad on our travels, closese was being at VP
Long is the first irish footballer i've met.

The Late Sir Henry Cooper (he did a talk at my school when I was 14) - he had MASSIVE hands!
Richard Briers - lovely bloke
Musician Richard Stilgoe
Vince Ibrahim who played the grandad in the Kumars at No42 - lovely bloke but I couldn't remember where I'd seen him before...
Once saw Duncan Goodhew in Harrods
And also bumped into The Apprentice winner Michelle Dewberry outside Farringdon Tube Station. She's rather nice
Oh, and Touring Car champ Matt Neal.

Met Nicky Robinson (rugby player, now with Wasps) when he played for the Blues. He used to live in the next street and I was walking to work one morning and his dog started jumping up at me. Nicky was very apologetic but I didn't mind. We had a brief chat whilst I petted his doggy. They were both very sweet

I met the whole Welsh football squad once upon a time;
Craig Bellamy
Ryan Giggs
Robbie Savage
Dean Saunders
Chris Coleman
John Hartson
Andy Legg
Andy Melville
Mark Pembridge
Paul Jones
and others.
And completely unexpectedly, Craig Bellamy was by far the nicest and had time for every single one of us (about 20 awe-struck kids on a "school trip"). I've been a defender of his ever since.

Re: Which Famous People Have You Met
Didn't actually speak with him but stood next to Raymond Illingworth in a bar in Torremolinos, Spain. It was just after he had been booted out as the England cricket supremo. Guess what this hard as nails Yorkshireman was drinking? A pint of larger top!
Was taking a pee at the UCI cinema in Derby when the late Kevin Llyod (Tosh from The Bill) came into the bathroom. Can't remember the exact date but it wasn't long before he died. Didn't know he had a drink problem at the time but remember thinking he didn't seem 100% with it, almost like he was a little confused.
Sat a couple of rows in front of Andy Reid on a flight from East Midlands to Malaga when he was still at Forest. Although it was off season he was still pretty out of shape for a footballer. We first saw him in the bar having a pre flight pint like we were - it was 5.30 in the morning!

I've met Michael Atherton. He was rude and arrogant, so my mate called him a p***k and we all walked off. I don't think he was very impressed.

My Dad is a white van man in Warwickshire and met Robbie Di Matteo at Robbie's kids school in Leamington. Also I went on a round with him once and delivered to ex-Leicester captain Matt Elliott.
One time he had a parcel for B.Knowles in Nuneaton but it wasn't Beyonce.

Worked in a shop while at uni and served Cannon & Ball, the singer from Funeral for a Friend (what a runt) and the black guy from Faithless. I didn't recognise him though, and asked him to re-sign his receipt because I didn't trust the look of him and his signature was a bit different to his card. Bumped into Jamie Cullum in Brum once, which was less interesting for me than it was for him. Oh, and I had a good conversation with the guy who used to play Buck Rogers, at Memorabilia in Brum a couple years ago. Lo0ads of cool people were there; Warwick Davis, The guy who played Kuato in Total Recall, Jason Mewes, Tony Todd...Ken Norton, Nigel Benn...

Re: Which Famous People Have You Met
Rio Ferdinand played football for about half n hour with my son a few months back.
Wayne Rooney lives next door to my mother in laws work and after his son's first birthday party Colleen came round with half of the birthday cake which I still have the decorations to.
I once told Gianfranco Zola and Faustino Asprilla they looked like a pair of d***ks when wearing matching shell suits in the middle of Amsterdam.
Sir Jimmy Saville has stood in my urine.
John Cleese once told me to p**s off.
I've slept in the same bed as EuroPop star Lolly (though nothing happened)
I've shared noodles with Paul Heaton from the Beautiful South
I'm mates with Marshall Lancaster who played Chris Skelton in Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.
I've snogged the woman who was the singer/dancer on the song 9pm till I come by ATB
I've shook hands with Prince Charles when he visited my home town when I was 6
I've breakdanced for Mr Bronson from Grange Hill too (well my mate span my legs around while I lay on my back and he watched).
Also met Kenny Baker, David Prowse, Anthony Daniels, Jeremy Bulloch and Peter Mayhew at a few Star Wars geek fests.
Also nearly appeared on Friday Night Project as a Mark Lamarr lookalike after being interviewed by Debra Stephenson.
Just looked back on this one and I have more to add...
My wife got into a verbal fight with Jason Robertson the England Rugby Union star after he allowed his son to kick ducks, she wasn’t impressed.
I’ve got royally drunk with Angus Deyton, Rob Rouse the comedian and Kai Owen who stars in Torchwood at the John Hartson charity match. Also met Calzaghe, Richard Ashcroft, Idris Elba, Dan Walker, Robbie Savage, Gethin Jones. All of this was because Adam (one of the other founders) invited me along, so still a great big thank you to him.
Oh and whilst it's not me meeting someone famous but I appeared on BBC1 a few months ago being interviewed about Macc Town and if I thought we could stay up, I said yes, we lost nearly every game after that and went down

Almost walked into Richard Hibbard (Wales international rugby) in Cardiff once. He was coming out of a shop and I was walking along the road. He was mahoosive!
A few weeks ago Alex Cuthbert (Welsh rugby international) walked passed me on Castle Street in Cardiff and he was walking with actor Iwan Rheon from Misfits.

Re: Which Famous People Have You Met
Bumped into Stevie Gerrard and his missus in London Euston the day after England beat Croatia to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, signed my programme for me no problem, he seemed strangely downbeat considering the day before though!
I've bumped into a few Preston North End players over the last few years, Billy Davies was suprising alright! Still can't stand him anyway I've also served Danny Dichio in a shop I used to work in and I've bumped into Danny Mayor quite a few times in my local
Jason Gillespie (former Aussie test bower) once threw a few balls down for me when I was about ten and he was Rishton's overseas player and it was belting down
Scraping the barrel but Kevin Simm (he in was Liberty X) presented years GCSE certificates. He went to my school but only came back when he wasn't famous anymore!

Met Roger Johnson at the bournemouth 7's, seemed an ok guy.
Also met Gary Doherty in the Shamrock bar while watching Ireland - Croatia game. Only spoke for a minute had a photo with him.
This was after the game, needless to say he was dissapointed like myself.

I think there should be is a difference from meeting [eg having a conversation with] and seeing.
If not I shall include the Queen.

he's too modest to post about this on here, but a regular from the cricket boards - Mike Selig - had the honour of having his "ICC volunteer of the year award presented to him by Richie Benaud, a true legend of the game. This was about a week ago, there's a video of him receiving the award here (you can skip the first four and a half minutes or so, that's just the president of France Cricket talking)

Yes that's why the title is "....famous people you've MET". Otherwise, my list would be huge, I've seen loads of famous people if you consider going to gigs and matches as seeing famous people. I've only mentioned people I've spoken to for some reason...even if it was just "hello, sorry"....etc

Re: Which Famous People Have You Met
I was chosen to give a posy of flowers to the Queen on a Royal visit when I was a little girl.
I was sooooooo nervous. My mum spent all morning making sure I was immaculately turned out and I had to wait for ages with this little bouquet in my hands, desperately trying to make sure I remembered what I'd been told to do (I'd rehearsed it with my mum about a million times already)
When the Queen arrived and I was given the nod, I stepped forward, curtsied my very best curtsey and held the posy out. She took it and gave me the loveliest smile. I could hear cameras clicking everywhere and when she asked me what school I went to and what I enjoyed doing, I could hardly think to answer. When she asked me what I would like to do when I'm older, I said I wanted to be a ballerina. She was so lovely, truly a wonderful person.
She thanked me for the lovely flowers and I knew that was my cue to step back, so I curtsied again and stepped back. And that was it. All over in moments, but my friends didn't stop asking me about it for ages afterwards.
My sisters cut out a crown and wrote "By Royal Appointment" under it, then put it on my bedroom door. I didn't mind... they weren't being mean.
It was a very special occasion.

I said hello to Jamie Roberts (Welsh rugby player) in my local Tesco last week. I know he lives in my area, but I've never seen him before. I would've liked to have had a natter with him, but he was talking to someone else so I didn't hang around.
