Betting on the World Cup Empty Betting on the World Cup

Post by Adam D Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:37 am

The World Cup is nearly upon us and some of you will be putting the odd pound or two on who is going to win (as well as some other games too, I would imagine!).

Anyway, we have set up a few accounts with the major bookmakers to get some special introductory deals.

We will update these whenever possible but please check they are still valid before joining. Also, please gamble responsibly - please note we are not encouraging you to do so.

If you wish to place a bet - please do so through the following links, as they have special codes in-bedded in them that will mean that we may get a financial reward toward the cost of running the forum, should you join through the links.

We have also put together a table of which bookmakers are offering what odds - so find the team that you want to back and do it through the bookmaker that is offering the best odds! These are subject to change, so please let us know if they are no longer valid and we will change.

One final thing - Victor Chandler are offering a special deal where all losing bets will be refunded should England win! See here for details (http://www.victorchandler.com/vcbet/en-gb/pages/show/77611-rugby-world-cup)

Also - Paddy Power are offering enhanced bets on some of the finalists and semifinalists, as well as matching up to £50 - see link for details)

Paddy Power - Here (up to £50 matched bet - see site for details)

William Hill - Here (up to £25 matched bet - see site for details)

Ladbrokes - details to be provided soon

Victor Chandler - Here (All outright bets refunded if England win - see site for details)

Bet 365 - Here (up to £200 free bets - see site for details)

To save you the hassle, 606v2 have scoured the Internet to provide you with the best odds available for the Rugby World Cup. We have looked through the major online bookies and have compiled the list below for outright winner of the tournament. You don't have to give us any money if you win...but a thank you would be nice!

I think Wales for a semi place at 20/1 looks brilliant too (assuming that Semi is 1/4 odds) - even 80/1 on Wales is not too unbelievable.

Just got this through from Paddy Power (I am going to be inundated with their offers now that I joined up as an affiliate!)

All Group Matches
Fri 9th September - Sun 2nd October ITV/RTE/Setanta
Money-Back Special
If a Number 11 scores the first try in any of the Rugby World Cup group matches Paddy Power will refund all losing try scorer bets on that match.

What me and a few friends are doing is starting with £1 and betting on one facet of every match at the World Cup and accumulating upwards. If you get to the final, you have to put all the money on one team and could end up with a hefty prize, if you don't you've only lost a pound!

A few bets I really like:

Top Tryscorer from a 6 Nations Team - Vincent Clerc 14/1

Wales to beat South Africa 6/1

Top Overall Tryscorer - Digby Ioane 12/1

England to finish second in their pool - 13/5

Top Points Scorer - James O'Connor 6/1

QF to be Eng v Fra, NZ v Sco, Aus v Wal, SA v Ire 11/2

All worth a €5 bet IMO.

Can someone explain to me how Wales are 80/1 to win it and Ireland 40/1?

Did no-one watch the warm up games?

Surely it should be the other way around?

It's partly to do with Wales having a tougher pool I guess. Plus maybe the bookies think Irish punters are more optimistic ...

Silly boy - you could have got 80/1 (see above!)

If anyone is having a flutter, please do so through the links above - for new customers you will get introductory offers such as a matching of the bet (ie you place £10, they give you a free £10 bet too - effectively doubles the odds for you)

Adam,

Put it on a while back and tbh was the longest odds I had seen with most at the time offering 50/1.

If it comes in I will love it but am prepared to lose a tenner. I usually cover my bets with 1st, last, anytime try scorer etc.

best I have had in recent times was tenner on Wales for ths Slam in 05 40/1 which covered a few weekends lol.

I will be honest that I cant believe that Wales are 80/1

The odds dont lie but they have a good run of form and are looking confident. They are certainly in with a better shot than Ireland are who are 40/1 (and dare I say England too)

Will you be putting an e/w bet on Wales then? Outright might be asking a bit much, but something like 40/1 to reach the final would be great value.

Bet of the tournament. Samoa 9/2 to qualify from their group. Wales are a staggering 1/7 to qualify. Surely the Samoa v Wales game will be the crunch game in the group. The games a sell-out and will be 3/4 Samoan fans.
Wales 80/1. I wouldn't have a penny if they were 800/1.

As you are top of the pro12 group - you might be the man in form with regards to predictions!

Wales will qualify - why does everyone assume that SA will qualify AND walk through Samoa?

SA v Samoa will be a very interesting game, but SA will beat Wales and let's hope we don't have many injuries going into Samoa game.

I think it's a close call between Wales and Samoa for 2nd place and the odds seem way off. I can't see anybody putting a penny on Wales at 1/7 to qualify.

There are always a few shocks in every WC. After some poor results, Fiji are being written off, but they surprise again?

The handicap bets have been reaping reward for me, mainly i've gone with paddy power.

I bet on USA to beat Ireland with a 30 pt headstart.
Wales to beat Sa with a 15 pt headstart
Argentina had a 11 pt headstart
Italy had a 30 pt win

Next up i have Georgia with a 21 pt headstart on scotland
Namibia with a 31 pt headstart are looking good
France with a 17 pt headstart looks good value too (got its usual risks with french teams)
I'll be keeping an eye on japans headstart v ABs
I'll be backing Fiji v Sa assuming they get a 20+ headstart

Here's to the minnows keeping it up in the next few rounds!

I've turned my £1 into £2.73! Tentative opening weekend to see how all the minnows are looking, looking to get a bit more adventurous as the competition goes on. For the midweek games I've gone for:

Samoa -24 (Vs Namibia)
Tonga/Tonga HT/FT (Vs Canada)
Georgia +27 (Vs Scotland)

Would return £9.49. Then the aim would probably be to triple that on an 8 game weekend.

after the thumping of Fiji and the way the draw has opened up to let Wales face first ireland and then potentially Eng/ France (ie no SH team), I really wish I had bet on Wales to be a finalist.

Before the World Cup Ireland were 10/1 to reach the final.

They then lost all the warm up games, and Aus (who were in the group won the tri nations) the odds must have been then 15/1 to reach the final,
I decided not to bet on it then as didn't see Ireland betting Aus to get easy side of Draw, with the form both teams were in then

Wish I had now but thats benefits of hindsight
