Good start for Andy gets an early break and is yet to lose a point.

Murray still yet to drop a point on serve, looking focussed, all good so far, 4-1.

Andy leads 4-1. Hopefully, he keeps his concentration here and can be ruthless. After the tiring game the other day he really could do with a short match today. Lopez just hasn't got going yet.

Lopez said before the match that he couldn't beat Murray from the back so would have to be more aggressive, but there's been little sign of it so far. Murray obviously happy to rally from the back of the court, plenty of pace off his first serve, and takes the first set 6-1 without dropping a single point on serve!!! Lost just seven points in the set.

Lopez has been pretty awful so far and surely he must improve. Lopez starts second set much better with a service hold to love.

Murray loses a tiny bit of focus there, and has to fight off break point, but comes through to hold

I have firmly decided that Murray lacks the killer instict. Instead of putting safe balls away he prolongs the points unneccessary. It goes with 2nd tier players, but can cost him on important points.

Lopez does well to hold there, but Murray is getting a look into nearly all of his service games, he really needs to up that first serve percentage to have any chance.

Lopez has a really attractive flowing game when he gets into his stride - fortunately for all of us, he is not being allowed to do so atm.

Good challenge by Lopez - what is Andy getting all antsy about....oh Petchey just said delayed challenge - didn't seem too late at all, about half the time that Delpo was taking to challenge against Simon earlier!

lovely teasing net play by Lopez to make it 4 3

Agree Mad for Chelsea - Andy needs to rediscover intensity, he needs to stay calm here too and not start with the negative nonsense.

I love seeing Andy playing in black......maybe because he was wearing black the first time I saw him....I'd never been the slightest bit interested in tennis 'till I saw Andy play.

My theory always has been that Andy plays better in black.....tho' I haven't done any research to prove this Erm

Hello everyone btw.....I didn't intend watching this match but couldn't sleep, so here I am!

Oh dear! Lopez has gifted that one away, with amongst other things two DFs in that game, including one on BP. Feel Murray's returning has been a fraction off today (he's left a lot of short balls on the second serve which is unusual), but he will serve for a two sets lead in a minute

Hi Solerina - let's hope he keeps to the black shirt if your theory is correct!

Serving for the set, hopefully straightforward and then I can go and get myself another cup of coffee to fuel me through the third!

Andy goes into a two set lead without really doing much. Lopez has been dire really and tactics have been mystifying. Get this done in three sets Andy and conserve your energy for the much bigger challenges that lie ahead.

Very odd match this. Andy cruising without playing any great stuff whilst Lopez has been really poor. Watching the match with the US commentary team and they are not amused at all with the Spaniard.

Yes....at least Andy is managing to save his energy for the rest of the tourney.

I've got my live stream going here but I'm not watching it much....I'm busy flitting around the internet....just listening to the commentary.

I think part of the problem CC is that Lopez didn't really believe he could win today. He's 0-5 against Murray, his style is a very bad match-up (Murray has a very good record against left-handers and big servers). Basically, when Murray started as well as he did, that was the end of that I think.

there's the double-break off the back of some very solid defending and returning from Andy Murray. A rather sad moment there after the first point, where Murray tries to usher a moth off court, fails to do so, and a ball-boy promptly comes up and wraps iit in a towel before carrying it off, not sure the moth survived that...

No the US commentators said Andy tweeted about all the withdrawals saying something like it was down to the hectic schedule of the tennis season.
