well it may not be the greatest match, but it is certainly restful to watch after Friday's cliffhanger.
Haha....I missed that one....glad I did after hearing about it the next day.
Yes it wasn't easy viewing at all, though when you stood back a little Haase was v entertaining for the first 2 sets. Still hopefully it has really woken Andy up for the rest of the tournament!

Andy Murray through to the Fourth Round of the US Open after beating Feliciano Lopez 6-1 6-4 6-2. A very comfortable evening for him but I must say I was very disappointed with Lopez indeed. He just looked totally deflated today.

A rather sad moment there after the first point, where Murray tries to usher a moth off court, fails to do so, and a ball-boy promptly comes up and wraps iit in a towel before carrying it off, not sure the moth survived that...
Oh...I missed that...busy flitting around the forums.
RIP little moth

No the US commentators said Andy tweeted about all the withdrawals saying something like it was down to the hectic schedule of the tennis season.

there you go, less than two hours on court, and Murray cruising through to R4, where he'll meet Donald Young, who - get this - is one of only three left-handers to have beaten Murray.

I'm sorry for Lopez that he played so poorly but it was a nice easy win for Andy.

Lopez (turned pro 1997), Chela (1998), Nalbandian (2000), Verdasco (2001), Melzer (1999), Blake (1999), Ferrer (2000), Roddick (2000), Haas(1996), Ferrero (1998), Davydenko (1999), Soderling (2001) are getting older and slower, very similar to Federer (1998).
There are very few Agassis, Connors, Rosewalls of and in this world.
Getting to these stages in the slams is harder for such players.
Sock, Harrison, Gulbis, Tsonga, Monfils, Young, Dolgo, Ilhan, Dimitrov, Del Potro and the younger players are the ones to be watched for the next few years.

Just watched the match back on Sky +
Initial thoughts was that Murray played brilliantly in 1st set. Played a safe and consistent 2nd and Lopez had very much given up the ghost by the 3rd. Considering the conditions were slightly breezey and that Andy has struggled in past with them, it was nice to see him through in 3 sets. Mixing his shots up lovely. Great use of the slice it has to be said. Thoroughly enjoyed that performance from Murray.

Agree legend however the next one up MAY cause a problem or two but if he can play the way he did in the 1st set then a meeting with Simon or Isner is on the cards.

Re: Anyone staying up for Andy?
To be honest it is very hard to judge that performance from Andy Murray as his opponent played really poor. It almost felt like a training match that lacked intensity and a competitive edge for me but Andy won and that is that matters at the end of the day and in quick time so as little energy as possible expended.
His next match will be interesting with his opponent having the home support in what is (to date) his best run in a slam event. How Young copes with those factors is key. If he rises to the occasion it could be very tricky for Andy but if the pressure gets to him it could a less complicated match for the Scot. Needs to up his intensity levels for this one and go gunning for Indian Wells revenge.

Re: Anyone staying up for Andy?
It was a much needed easy match for Andy.
Young should be no problem. Andy has too much for him.
