Who DESERVES to win the RWC 2011?

Just on contribution to recent and historic performance over the past 100+ years.

So excluding all but the 'chokers' RWC winners, which country has earned an RWC win just on contribution to the game?

And to confess my own prejudice I include NZ in the vote.

(But I haven't voted for them - I went for Wales)

As between the Tasmin and Coral Seas, the east coast of Australia touches the South Pacific Ocean, does that make Oz a Pacific Island also???

Yeah, I agree, we have entertained crowds all over the world, we got them angry at our bullies, we gave them ample material to write negative articles that would be discussed for ages.

Becuase inherently we are nice people, ( yeah i know you dont believe that), we are generous, we love nature, we have beautiful woman, and we realy want to be the first country to win three RWC's and be the first to win back to back trophies, and be the first country outside New Zealand to win it in New Zealand, and becasue if we don't win it and New Zealand does then what are people going to rag the All Blacks about. And think about it, if you guys win it 3 times by itself that's not too bad, we can aim to be the 1st to win it 4 times. But then we wlil have to play and win for 8 years to also break the back to back winning you guys will have by winning this years.

So, on that note, I think the nice wallabies deserves to win it.

Just think of all the class players that have been stolen by the All Blacks over the years to help maintain the myth surrounding them

Overall there's 40 NZ born players in RWC squads other than NZ's, and 4 countries (other than NZ) have a Kiwi head coach. The NZ Herald's picked a useful 1st XV (though I'm not sure I'd have picked Hape )

Ha. No you shouldn't feel sorry for us. It's not hoping Georgia get a try against South Africa to make them feel a bit better about the shellacking they're receiving, it's the team that needs this to be universally recognised as the best in the world.

We'll pick up the 4 Nations next year, but really this is the only thing we cop it for, and we're going to win it again sometime. I'd say make hay while the sun shines and keep the stick going! After all we can make fun of everyone else for not having anywhere near as good a head to head record!

Nobody deserves to win a trophy. The team who performs the best gets it.

It's a bit wrong to lump the Samoa, Tonga and Fiji together.

I promise you they are all actually different places.

The Campaign Against France

1) France started setting off nuclear weapons on otherwise idyllic Pacific Islands causing no end of problems to inhabitants of the area.

2) They sent special forces operatives into NZ to blow up a protest vessel at anchor and in the process caused the loss of life to innocent by standers

3) They are very annoying when they win

4) They believe they beat NZ in 2007 entirely on merit, and that Michalak's pass to Yannick Jauzion was "just a magic magic magical moment of brilliance", which may be the literal translation of "forward" in French, but I doubt it.

Don't get me wrong, you know that I am one who like to let by-gones be by-gones. Politics is one thing and rugby is another. But if a bunch of cowardly, condescending arrogant Frenchman swoop down and after years of mediocrity win the world cup it will be a travesty of morality, a failure of Karma, and frankly a gold star and pat on the back for satan and all his little henchmen.

Don't let me sway you, but these are not just rugby players, they are literally servants of evil and in no way should anyone even consider supporting them.

A semi is rather useless, if you ask me, and most men over the age of 80 will concur.

If England aren't to win the World Cup, then I'd want France to win. However if France are to win it will probably involve England losing in the Quarter-Final, which would leave me disappointed with the campaign.

Well i boycotted the vote because SA are not there.
We have some good 606 posters from SA on this site and leaving them off as defending champs is rather insulting to them.
So when you put them back on the list i'll vote.... For the abs of course!

In a previous article you criticised anotherr poster for bringing up the Greenpeace incident as fatalities were involved. But seemingly, its alright for you to do it?

The other poster was making light of the Greenpeace murders carried out by the French government.

What I'm saying is that far from being deserving of victory, the French deserve all the Pacific retribution that can be dished out and for a number of reasons.

If that starts with them being humiliated at the RWC, then it's a start.

I wanted to vote Wales, just because they are so passionate but then I realized that they sometimes go way overboard though, so changed my vote to NZ.

I don't recall NZ ever being humiliated at a RWC.

No shame in losing to the #2 or #3 teams in the world by a few points in a knock out comp, surely?

Now England - they've been humiliated a few times. SA 36 - 0 recently and then that humbling thumping by NZ when NZ just scored try, after try, after try, after try, after try and then the forwards started knocking over drop goals from the half way line for fun. Now that, Mr White is a humiliation.

Yes, but England have hardly ever been classed as the 'best team in the world' have they? Whereas, it would seem that the AB either like to think they are, or their supporters like to think they are. Either way, it's actually no disgrace for England to lose to the AB is it, since expectations aren't really that high. Of course there was that one occasion when England beat them home and away, once with just 13 men on the pitch for the best part of a quarter of an hour.

England have a good relative performance record in WC, and at least their one win has come in the professional era. Even after losing 36-0 to SA for example, they went on to reach the final which they lost narrowly (even by SA own admission) to the same side. Where were NZ that year btw?

I voted for France. They're the best side not to have won a World Cup and they've provided some of the best rugby the tournament has seen.

Yes. But you can't use being no good as an excuse to be no good.

You can't walk around accusing teams far better than yourselves of having been "humiliated" because they lost by a few points to another team far better than yourselves and not appear to be a little bit bitter and foolish.

Instead of using your mediocrity as an excuse for your mediocrity and celebrating NZ losing to Australia, South Africa or France...why not instead ask why England with so many resources and so much money, who played so many home games at Twickenham in the history of the world cup are so poor? Looking at every match in isolation it's no disgrace to lose to New Zealand (they're not exactly a weak team), but it is a disgrace for a country our size to have lost almost 80% of the games we've played against them. Saying they're better than us isn't a mitigating circumstance that makes it acceptable. Why are they better than us?

Although I don't think the Blackett report and all the other shenanigans going on now will effect the England team ahead of the World Cup, I think the RFU (not intentionally) have held back the England team for a long time, basically by being a bunch of morons.

It would be great to win the World Cup, but possibly an even bigger victory in the next 2 months would be if we can sort out the RFU, for the long-term benefit of the game in this country.
