Hurricanes to go 'a hunting....
I read yesterday (though can't find the bloody link now), with some excitement, that in light of the mass exodus of top quality international talent from the Hurricanes Hammett and Ieremia were prepared to go looking for an international marquee flyhalf to sign up as a guiding force for the upcoming Beauden Barratt. Very interesting indeed We've lost a hell of a lot of players who would be commanding the top $180k bracket contract so there is a hell of a lot of cash to be spent as apparently we've got two places left with some to come from the draft.
So, who to sign? Which Intl quality flyhalf could make the step to Super XV? There is also an urgent need for a winger so who could be on their way to the Caketin asfter the WC?
I have mooted for a long time that I'd love to see James Hook play in the Super XV, here's you chance son!
If anyone has any knowledge on likely prospects, or who is out of contract etc, please post here!

I think all fly halves are locked up by this stage. Genuinely can't think of one that will be available unless the 'Canes are willing to pay compensation.

that's what I feared munsty....
Having said that:
Gear 150
Weepu 180
Hore 150
Nonu 180
Cruden 150
Tialata 150
So by my estimation, the hurricanes have at least a pot of $960k to spend this season on literally two players.

They could always put a bid in for SBW I suppose - with Nonu gone as well I'm guessing the 'Canes 12 backup isn't great either.

Charlie Ngatai and I guess Michael Hobbs will be filling the role. Neither is bad but not world beaters

This might seem a stupid question so humour me, why do the 'canes need another 10 when they have Cruden?
Is Michelak tied down to a French club or the Sharks? He looked pretty good for them in the Super 15 and seems to have been a good mentor to Lambie.
Otherwise I'm not sure who else is readily available.

Cruden's off to the Chiefs. His coach at Manawatu, Dave Rennie, is the new Chiefs coach.

Cruden has signed for the Chiefs.
Mintie,
There is also Jayden Hayward who has had a very good season for Taranaki.

Cruden has followed his Manawatu mentor, Dave Rennie, to the Chiefs where he's taking over from Ian Foster. Wayne Smith has also come on board there as a backs coach....
We're left with Barratt, who hasn't played much flyhalf at this level (or NPC) and the incredibly mediocre Dan Kirkpatrick

Ah that is a loss to the 'canes, we'll let them have Irish international Jeremy Staunton if they ask nicely .

Bullsbok, it doesn’t stop at letting Nonu go. Weepu was the heart and soul of that team….
