Bakkies could miss Wales test
The 2007 World Cup winner is suffering from "chronic Achilles tendonitis".
The injury has prompted coach Peter de Villiers to delay his team announcement by 24 hours until Friday

A big loss for the Boks, no doubt about that. Bakkies is a big intimidating character on the pitch and with Matfield probably part of the best 2nd row combo in world rugby. However to think they will be weakened up front is silly, Danie Rossouw will be stepping in if he does not make it. Bokke fans agree with me on this right?
Still can't see Wales winning this test but hopefully we can take away a vital LBP at the very least as I feel the other 3 teams won't get within 10 points of South Africa.

As a precaution Victor also didn't train.
Johan Muller and Willem alberts trained together as the lock combination,

Oh, Muller is a good player but didn't know Alberts could also play in the 2nd row. Smart moves. I really rate Rossouw, I think he's a class player. If wrecking-ball Botha misses out I think our 2nd row might just be under slightly less pressure.

LBP - loosing bonus point? Are they using the bonus points system in the RWC?

It's actually losing, Kenneth. One 'o'
I was under the impression that at the last world cup it was a bonus boint for 4 tries and a losing bonus point for losing by 7 or less.
Alberts is a big guy, but our back 5 will be ready for the SA loosies this time.

Bonus points have been used since 2003 and as far as I'm aware it's only the 6 nations that does not use it.

True. Bonus points awarded in RWC.

As far as I know any tournament that has pool stages use a bonus points system. We probably have the toughest first two games of anyone in this tournament. Gatland's probably tempted to rest a few players versus Namibia (our 3rd game) before facing Fiji.

I agree TBJ9625,
If SA lose Matfield and Botha then it will be a big blow to them, and a huge boost to the Welsh as we might win one of our lineouts

Is Bakkies really injured or has someone slipped him a DVD of George North in action and his achilles started nagging away

It is to lull the North into a sense of hope. After the anthems Bakkies will come running out with North tatoed on his forehead to remind North who he is playing against.
North will then go into the changeroom feigning an injury.

Re: Bakkies could miss Wales test
No he will be part of the rush defence when wales are tired or going from side to side ( as usual), he will wait for north to take the inside ball midfield.
But it is not to say he can't tackle out wide, he has an astute ability to be at the right place at the right time.
