England ODI side - change it depending on conditions?
Do you think the England ODI side should be changed depending on where the ODI is being played? We've seen Anderson bowl well here aagainst SL and India but he got destroyed in subcontinent in the world cup. My sides would be:
Bowler friendly conditions
Cook
Kieswetter
Trott/Bell
KP
Morgan
Stokes
Bresnan
Swann
Broad
Anderson
Dernbach
Flat pitches
Cook
Kieswetter
KP
Morgan
Stokes
Patel
Buttler
Bresnan
Swann
Broad
Dernbach
thoughts?

Its a good idea but I can promise you that Andy Flower won't do it
Re: England ODI side - change it depending on conditions?
Flower likes continuity he likes to pick players on form rather than the conditions.

Taylor should be ahead of Bell in the pecking order mate.
also kies shouldnt open in bowler friendly conditions.

Shanky but he's not sadly. GG's got the team Flower play spot on.
Once Ben Stokes can bowl, Flower will hopefully get rid of Bopara

Won't be long before Buttler gets his opportunity either.

Dernbach is dreadful and this is from a Surrey fan. All he has is his slower long hops.

I agree, he's massively overrated at the death of an innings.

Not half, he needs to go back to county cricket and work on his stock delivery. Someone like Shahzad must be miffed as to how he was leapfrogged by Dernbach.Liam_Main wrote:I agree, he's massively overrated at the death of an innings.

Agree re Dernbach but sadly Flower seems to like him which is why he's included. Would much rather see Shahzad, Finn or even Meaker in ahead of him

Shazhad's had a poor county season so no real surprise he's playing.

Finn has been brilliant for Middlesex this season yet Flower is determined not to pick him at any cost.

We need a left arm seamer. On flatter pitches, 3 seamers all bowling right arm over will get the treatment. Shame as after Sidebottom we don't have any other left arm seamers.

I thought it was just me who didn't get Dernbach, what with all the commentators waxing lyrical about him, but he never seems to be economical at the death! He gets whacked and gets wickets, but he needs to go back to County cricket and LEARN TO BOWL A YORKER. He bowls at near 90 mph, so just bowl a yorker!

What the hell has happened to Rashid? Has he totally gone off the boil after the selectors made him drinks boy and then ditched him? His figures this season are pretty shocking, averaging close to 45 with the ball. If he was in form, he could easily bat at 7 and bowl 10 overs.
