France vs Japan Match thread
First topic message reminder :
You got to feel for the Japanese, in the first 10 minuyes they showed enterprise, willing to run, and the French from one intercept and a very wierd counter rucked breakdown where their tackled player waseffectively offside, stood up because he was not held and started running, the french scored a try from that.
Japan came back with a penalty so current score
FRA 14 Japan 3

Yeah guess my "France by 28" doesn't look so bad now - but it doesn't really tell the story

Man I just love rugby.
I really do hope this is the game played in heaven.
Otherwise I am going to be really peeved off.

"France potential quarter finalists for England..."
That's a bit presumptious isn't it? Argentina might have something to say about that...

Parra is quite convincing at 10...shame there is only 2 SH in the team.
this was a proper test match for france at least during 65 minutes - a bit ashamed by their performance during most of the 2H : it looked like italy all over again, they were arrogant, didnt respect themselves and japan and let japan play their nice flowing game. france didnt deserve that score and 90% of their points were down to japanese mistakes.

Absolutely, but you can't take away from the fact that their basic structures were well executed, And their finishing and execution was good.
Just remember these minnows have nothing to lose, so they can throw the kitchen sink at these top teams.

I was suprised by large parts of Japan's play, the ferocity at which they hate the breakdown was great, the service from their scrumhalfs was also incredibly quick.

What's presumptuous about it? The key word is "potential". Means it could happen.
And it could

France, well playes first of all. But have to say France was very very lucky imo, Japan gave them a real scare.
A fantastic game though lets hope their is more rugby to come of the same caliber.

Biltong, I suspect that if you find yourself in a soccer stand when the time comes it'll be because you wound up in the other placebiltongbek wrote:Man I just love rugby.

Great effort Japan. I assume their arm bands were for the tsunami victims? Not sure why France felt the need to dress as England though , red vs blue surely was the better option.

I was under the impression they do ballet in the other place?
At least that is what PDV said.

I thought Japan were a credit to the game and the scoreline didn't do them justice at all. They just ran out of steam but they really had France in all sorts of trouble in that 2nd half. I was really impressed by their skill levels and running angles and they did the basics extremely well too. They looked a threat every time they had the ball but maybe they just couldn't match France's physicality and it eventually wore them down. If Ireland play with anywhere near the skill and passion they did then I'll be very happy.
The French tries were fantastic but they didn't look switched on mentally and made a lot of errors. I think they will still be a real threat in this tournament though and I can't wait until the AB game.

Anyone think Japan could actually be contenders for the World Cup in 2019?

VERY exciting game,Japan were never going to have the physicality at Scrum time. But gee they gave France a lot of problems, first matchIhave watched so far. Where so called minnows didn`t try to grind it out.
Japan played really well,Tonga and Canada again must be target wins for them now.NZ need the first team on the park too if they want to avoid a banana skin.
