Your favourite weight division and why?
What is currently your favouraite weight division guys? And why? For me it is super middle.
Not only is it deep in talent but we have a great world champ in Carl Froch and two very interesting prospects in Degale and Groves. Plus i am a big fan of Kessler and Johnson. I also think that at 168 you still get athletic fighters who can give you spectacular KO's plus the ability to box at a pace and output that doesn't put you to sleep
Closely pushed by welter and light welter but Super mid is me fav.

Re: Your favourite weight division and why?
Right now, I'd agree with you Sean and go with Super-Middleweight, for a number of reasons; high interest in our top pound for pound fighter plying his trade there, a few reasonable prospects at the weight, and most of the top names there meeing each other with regularity over the past couple of years. The Bantamweights perhaps have a higher quality, but all things considered I'm happy to stick with the 168 lb men.

Nice article.
Heavy.
However bad the "quality" - watching 2 behemoths throw leather still holds a thrill.
I don't even mind if the HWs in question are a bit blubbery - I like Arreola because I like his attitude. And the power in the shots is something special. Watching Foreman pick Frazier up with a punch or watching Fury potshot Chisora - I enjoy both.

didnt see heavy getting a mention oxring but you make good points. I like watching a fighter slowly take apart another at heavy and spectacular ko's. But the current crop are so bad i have to goi lower in weight for satisfaction, chriss nice call on bantamweight

And that's why HW is awesome. Even if its done to music that only Dave667 could appreciate.

Welter. I think it probably has the greatest number of fighters at that weight because it is a fairly average size. This usually gives it a richer talent pool than the others.

Re: Your favourite weight division and why?
I'd be interested to know as to whether one's own size makes a difference.
I weigh in just under the CW limit. Probably couldn't cut down another 10kgs to get to LHW. As such - I appreciate the HWs - basically guys in the weight above myself.
If I were the average 70kg - I'm not sure if I'd like the HWs so much.

Have to say, I am a big fan of Lightweight up to Welterweight. Just always seems to have the perfect blend of skill and power for me.
My favourite fighter of the last 20 years is Ricardo Lopez. Safe to say, although not being a fattie, I weigh in comfortably above Straweight.

Batamweight at the moment, greatest pool of talent and some top fights to be made and have some great fights there recently.

Same here, but I was watching boxing a few years earlier. I remember Tyson punching Jimmy Greaves in the gut.

Oi, feral youths, bugger off and hang around outside the local shops in your hoodies and stop spamming up the board.

I can just see Windy as an ex-marine. Although he may well have been above the upper age limit when they were formed.

I weigh as much as Danny Williams but I think the heavyweight division stinks and featherweight is my favourite! Admittedly that's almost solely because Gamboa's there now and Donaire will be there shortly. Otherwise I'd plumb for the 168s as I agree with the above posters that its possibly the best mix of size speed power and technique plus Britain's not too shabby at the weight.

Re: Your favourite weight division and why?
Flyweight is a very competitive division with Pongsaklek Wonjongkam although he might not come up against the guys at the weight that often because he won’t travel and no one is that keen on going to Thailand because they know to win they need to stop him. Giovanni Segura is P4P top 10 easily and a match up with him and Brian Viloria needs to be made. Then you have Hernan Marquez and Luis Conception who have already had a FOTY contender this year and are going to do it all over again next month.
Banatamweight is the other weight that really sticks out even if Donaire moves up to 126lbs after he fights the unbeaten Omar Andres Navaraez in what is a great match up with Navaraez looking to become a 3 weight World champion. Donaire would be leaving behind some good names in Joseph Agbeko, Abner Mares, Vic Darchinyan, Anselmo Moreno and Koki Kameda who will hopefully come to the States next year because he matches up very well with these guys.
If I was forced to pick I would lean towards flyweight because their is better looking matches at the weight and Donaire is moving up.

Welter, never been the biggest Heavy fan as theres rarely anyone with amazing skill involved which is something I like to see. Though I do like the occasional huge KO, but Welter has Manny and Floyd in it... Though to be honest in general I'm hardly bothered about weight divisions, it's just the fighters that are involved really.
