I wouldn't start Johnson - he's hardly played whereas Downing has looked good and performed well for England too.

Zamora is an odd one - but Capello does like him. Bent hasn't been scoring, Carroll looks off the pace - Wellbeck should start for me, although Defoe is looking sharp, and personally i'd have gone with him.

I think Capello will go with Parker and Barry again, they played very well together in Bulgaria and I'm sure Capello will be expecting a tough game so I think he'll put Barry in there to try and win the midfield battle.

Yeah I think he played RB against Bolton Luke, which was his best game this season

Yeah, he has played at right back at times, he's a very versatile player. Parker and Barry with Lampard supporting Rooney could work.

Let's take stock on monday see where we are.

Interest in general seems to have dropped, so maybe a re-think as to the format may be the way forward.

Have an idea of a realistic league in my head. Not sure how it'd work.

If anyone has any suggestions do let me know.

Yeh, we are all stuck in a rut with the fatasy thing, and ratings seem a bit dodgy at the minute.

My idea is centred around having 5 english players in your side, 8 in total in your matchday squad, with tactics, weather suiting players, home advantage etc being key.

i think 8 would be too many cos theirs not exactly many decent english players

maybe just have to have 4 u21's in the match day squad

I like them because it puts your knowledge of European football to the test and also it rids this 'under-rated' players business.

I think it could be a good idea actually. But the only problem is in foreigns what is a realistic signing for each club. ive seen realistic leagues before with players playing for clubs they would never join IRL, its hard to monitor.

I understand the principle that smaller clubs would only be able to attact certain players etc but, as jimbo says, if you're Norwich City you're going to lose most matches. Just not sure how you improve sides etc.

What I'd recomend is how Nando mentioned is to have a base of clubs that all start with similar level teams, so if you did just the Premier League it'd be all teams barring Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool & Spurs.
If it was an European one then no to the likes of Barca, Real, AC & Inter Milan, Bayern, Utd, City, Chelsea, but everyone else is pretty much fair game.
Use transfermarkt to decide the teams as it provides the total price of the team, keep between a min and max (so for example only clubs that have a total value of 100m-150m) and if you wanted to stop clubs suddenly becoming overpowered compared to others then impose a wage cap on clubs.

Hey guys.
I would love a realistic league OK

Teams like Wolves and Norwich aren't going to expect to win the league though, that's the point. Like the real world, finishing above the relegation places would be a good achievement for them, while for Man United, they are expected to win the league.

Slowly, teams improve. So top four is Champions League and top eight Europa League. Players will move to teams of a similar standard.

The challenge of being a team like Norwich isn't the winning, it's exceeding expectations. Like a top half finish for them would be incredible and I've seen Wigan and Wolves both make Europa in a certain other realistic league because they got some good domestic transfers, and also were strong tactically which has an impact.

Firstly guys, no matter what direction the league goes in I'll be staying either way OK

Anyway, I've been part of quite a few realistic leagues and ran one on 606 aswell so I quite enjoyed them and would definetly be up for that here. If there were concerns about the teams like Norwich, Wolves and that you could do what I saw on a league a while back, realistic transfers for unrealistic budgets? Maybe put the big teams at 0 Million who know they have the pick of the players in foreigns meaning they will sell up to gain cash, and maybe give the real lower sides 50-60m meaning they can't just go out and buy a new team for big money each, they still have to play about with their money. To add I really like the "home-grown" players rule, and thats definetly something that if we went down the realistic route we should look into.

Think its something we could explore on Monday anyway, for now I'm off to bed Laugh

And maybe the 6+5 rule? 6 players must be English?

Yeah I did, was a good challenge but as with Boycey who done well with Wigan there was some luck for both of us on the way to begin with, managed to get David Villa at Wolves though which I consider a good acheivement Laugh took 3/4 seasons though of course Wink

I'd say 6 players is maybe too much as there isn't a lot of players to go around, we could even make it a British players rule rather than English, would mean players like Fletcher, Adam, Ramsey, Bale etc could be included? OK
