the square root of pie
Now loooking at the recent matches and it got me wondering. does it matter if the bonus points are won. all three groups have a possiblility of teams winning on the head to ead.
Does the bonus point work
at the same time how do u define.a pie. crusty, fluffy, pastry on top or just a slighlty embarassing
stew with a top. Is it just.potato that is missing or should and under crust by the issue
Does this define rugby in 2011 where no one really knows ow to make the rules.work. or what crust is needeD to make the irish sing

Risky, everybody knows that pie should be fluffy on the top and soft on the bottom. Personally I like a bit of crust

Re: the square root of pie
Pie should have pastry. If it's got mash, it's not a proper pie. Unless it's shepherds pie, or cottage pie.
OK, most pie should have pastry, not mash. A pie with pastry could beat any other pie on its day though...

I think that's the key here.

Re: the square root of pie
Don't know much about Pi...but...
A pie is defined by its crust. A filled pie has pastry lining the baking dish, and the filling is placed on top of the pastry, but left open. A top-crust pie, has the filling in the bottom of the dish and the filling covered with a pastry or other covering before baking. A two-crust pie has the filling completely enclosed in the pastry shell. Flaky pastry is a typical kind of pastry used for pie crusts, but many things can be used.

I'm sorry I just can't agree with that statement, surely the key here is if that pie has a good pedigree, if it does then surely the odds are stacked in that pies flavour, Then again it could just be on the day. I think now that the sport has gone professional we will see a lot of others juming on the gravy train which I'm not keen on although in the end it should make for more excitement and some exceedingly good pies.

Re: the square root of pie
Ekshully Greggs (of Gosforth) don't do good pies. Now their cheese savoury stotties - now they are in a different league.
However, non gregs steak pie vs Cheese Savoury Stottie
Who Would Win?
Only one way to find out.......................

What we had last might was a bowl of stew with a lid made from pastry. I'm in the "enclosed in pastry" corner with Little Jack Horner.

theres a pub in London that wins awards for its pies.
they're to die for... or kill someone and take it off them.
think its next to an aston martin garage with green tiles on the outside, may be called the rat and parrot.

So is it too early to eat pies at 6am while watching rugby?

Re: the square root of pie
The watching rugby makes it okay. Otherwise eating pies so early in the day would probably lead to ostracisation if it became known.

Now there's an idea. Might have to do some baking myself tonight . Though down-under we call it "bacon and egg pie", and it has a pastry top, so is a pie not a quiche
That reminds me of a cartoon I saw one time when the England cricket team was touring Australia, a sign in the crowd saying "Englishmen eat quiche", with a massive queue of aussies holding their noses waiting to buy at the dodgy, fly-surrounded "dinkum Aussie pies" stall beside it.
