The Universe
Is anyone else bothered with the whole Big Bang Theory, I read that the Universe started off the size of a postage stamp but what was there before the postage stamp?????

No it was much smaller than that.
And since time and space are are apart of the universe, there was no before and nowhere as we know it.

But probably rubbish. Personally I still think David Attenbrough invented life.

Re: The Universe
So if you dont believe it what is your other theory?
God had the rest of the universe in his shed, and he only found it after the bible was written?

Re: The Universe
There are theories now that there was stuff before the Big Bang:

Re: The Universe
Never get into an argument about the size of the universe with a physicist.
It's neverending.

Re: The Universe
The Universe does have a size, and it is probably doughnut shaped
Universe can't be any bigger than 28 billion light years in from one end to the other.

THIS is my opinion on the bible.

What makes you think that? You have to remember that the big bang happened at all points in the universe, it is not like there was an explosion in the middle of somewhere.

But surely it can be, as the theory of enthalpy would suggest that the universe is constantly expanding.

The Universe is growing. The big bang was the creation of the universe. The fabric of space is a quality of the universe. The universe has to follow the universal laws too.
If the Big Bang happened 14 billion years ago and relativity tell us that objects can't exceed the speed of light then the Universe can't be bigger than 28 billion light years across, or is that 14 billion?

Re: The Universe
Lets be honest here; humanity knows sod all about how life was created, or how the universe was created. We've invented so many different theories know it's just silly.

There is a hell of a lot of evidence for the Big Bang Theory and if you know the evidence you know it must be true.
Most the object in space are flying away from us, the further they are away the faster they are traveling. They can tell this because of the Doppler effect. Everything his red shifted, the same way you when an ambulance is coming towards you and going away just by hearing the siren, because you the tone or pitch, is the same way they can tell with stars and galaxies because they are red shifted (going away) or blue shifted ( coming towards).
So what does that mean? If everything is moving away from each other, if you run time back they will all be in the same place at one point in time.
But if there was a massive explosion wouldn't be some evidence? And there is with a microwave background radiation, which was predicted before it was discovered.

Don't you think this is very arrogant?
The Big Bang Theory is only the accepted theorum at the moment. All prominent scientists know that there may be forces and dimensions that humans have not yet been able to comprehend.
I'm far too drunk to be talking about this right now.

Re: The Universe
There are only four fundamental forces in the Universe, "the strong force" inside the atom, "the weak force" radioactivity, electromagnetism and gravity
Dimensions 4, 3 spatial and 1 time, M-theory suggest that there are 11 spatial dimensions.
There is a lot more that we don't know but the creation of the universe, the rough details how it happen is pretty much agreed on and it really hard to argue against.
