Croft for England Captain
What do you think?
He's consistently one of our best players. He has a good deal of experience now and yet should be around for a while. Despite what some say he very much IS up for the unglamorous work forwards need to do and puts in a huge amount of effort around the park.
If we pick Croft as captian that leaves us free to pick our best back row – Wood, Haskell/Easter (still not entirely sure myself about this one), Croft.

I think the clear point is that Moody should not be there full stop. His performances...and his leadership have been severely lacking....

Has he actually shown he can lead..?
or are you just calling him out cos he's one of the few settled players in the starting line-up

Well i knew he was VC for Leicester...but a few Leicester fans confirmed he has captained them several times.
Did anyone know if MJ could lead before being selected as Lions skipper?

Yes.... read Geech's book and SCW's ... he had 'Leader' written all over him.

Well he's captained Tigers before and seems to get stuck in on the pitch, leading from the front a la Moody of old. I just really like him as a player, he seems to have obvious class and grit, he is experienced and his position is secure. Seems like a good candidate.

Croft is a real candidate post world cup, he'd be the ideal age and experience as well as reasonably sure of his place.
I cant imagine England dumping their capatin mid tournament, if they did it would be for Tindall

Current order for assuming captaincy:
Moody/Tindall/Easter.
All three should be pensioned off post WC.
Hartley was one of the front runners to take over, as Wally will also be retired and he is Saints captain. However he has probably talked his way out of the role.
So who the hell next? Flood has been mentioned by the camp - but he has no experience.
Not over-endowed with candidates frankly.

Not sure if having a winger as captain would suit England now...

Wasnt it Hartley that told Haskell to give the camera back and stop being a div?
Trouble is he cant get in the side as a player right now.
I dont see Flood as a captain really, hes just to cute

Re: Croft for England Captain
What pees me off is that, as has happened frequently this WC, when England have been struggling no-one has called the players round them and done the 'time to sort this mess out' rallying talk and none of them have the presence to do it. Moody is not performing well as a player or captain which is disappointing. Prior to his last major injury he was doing both and it showed. I don't think you can dump that responsibility on Croft at this stage, it would be unfair. Moody has to step up to the mark, even if he is not playing well he should still know what has to be done and be making sure the players do too.
