Fight of the century
I rate Barrera v Morales 1 as the best fight I've seen this century and I'm struggling to think of a fight that has the same intensity and excitement. Whats the general consensus on the best and favourite of peoples fights this century?

Has to be the thriller in Manilla.
Heavyweight showdown that was fought almost to the death. Amazing conditioned fighters who did not like each other, a real grudge match.
Ended in absolute dramatic circumstances.

Sorry I meant the last 11 years. Just couldn't think of fights since 2000 that come close to Barrera v Morales 1. Reason I'm asking is to get an idea on what dvd's I could get in the near future.

Gatti Ward 1 goes without saying, my personal favourite in recent years has to be Castillo Corales 1.

Castillo Corrales 1's a great shout and it was a shame about Castillo coming in over for the 2nd fight.

Vasquez v Marquez trilogy would be good value for money

Gatti ward was amazing but Castillio v Corales was a real phone booth kind of fight.

Re: Fight of the century
I've never seen the 1st two just the 3rd. Remember reading somewhere they were going to have a 4th too. If the 1st 2 are as good as the 3rd then I'll have to have a look.

Re: Fight of the century
Yeah this century I'd be looking at Castillo Coralles, just an amazing fight, just when you think it's all over BAM! Right back into it.
Gatti - Wards are in Kell Brooks words "A war of nutrition"
Berto- Ortiz is a decent shout for this year purely for making Steward scream OH MY GOD!
The fight all the fans wanted to see, the obvious standout fight of the past century however was clearly Haye Harrison, who didn't enjoy that one! :O

As you brought up Audley I'm quite partial to Harrison v Williams 1

Re: Fight of the century
to be fair it was probably his most exciting fight, actually came out aggressive for once, strange... But tried it against Sprott and got splattered so stopped doing it then!

Barrera v Morales was amazing but always leaves a bad taste in my mouth given the horrible decision.
Gatti v Ward for me.

Re: Fight of the century
I think you might have mistaken it for the 2nd fight when he stopped Danny in 3 rounds. 1st fight was awful. It was on a Haye v Harrison scale for crowd booing due to zero action, apart from the knockdown in the 10th I believe.

khan maidana was a great fight, both men down, and a full 12 rounds of action

True, how on earth Morales got that decision is beyond me. I had Barrera winning that comfortably but then again I thought Morales won the rematch and Barrera got the nod!
All of the above are brilliant and couldn't pick between them but for value over 3 fights my trilogy pick would be Vasquez vs Marquez, a real telephone booth brawl.

Re: Fight of the century
I'm going to get slated for this, but does anyone ever think that Castillo was robbed a bit, with corrales spitting out the gumshield and general timewasting (self preservation)?
Robbed is a bit harsh, but sh1t I felt sorry for him, those few seconds must have made all the difference.

Re: Fight of the century
... not slated here jim, he certainly got the fuzzy end of the lollypop re both knockdowns... but from a neutral perspective it did pave the way for a great comeback

Re: Fight of the century
Morales Barrera for me, I remember being enthralled by that!
Slightly older but does anyone remember Ayers v Rigby 1, where Ayers was out on his feet after getting up to beat a count, then as the ref was checking him, he tapped his heart, made it to the end of the round then won the fight. Great stuff.

Vazquez vs R.Marquez II
Almost anything with Katsidis in it.
My personal favourite is Segura vs Calderon I.
