Hero's melancholy zone
One of my fave times to listen to music is in complete darkness with some tracks that send me off to a melancholic slumber (I liked melancholy before emos!)
Here's my jukebox.

Johnny Cash - Hurt.
IMO the best cover version ever made. If you don't like this song then seriously you have issues.

Damien Rice - 9 Crimes
I first saw Damien Rice at a festival a couple of years before he became big, this for me is quality.

Bjork - Violently Happy
Sadness with dance music, great!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHYOXyy1ToI
Joy Division - Love will Tear Us Apart Again
Ian Curtis the lead singer hailed from my home town, Macclesfield, this is his most famous work.

Bloc Party - So here we are
My fave band of the past decade with their most beautiful piece.

Portishead - Roads
Simply my favourite band of all time. Haunting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7K72X4eo_s
Massive Attack - Teardrop
From my favourite band to my favourite song. Big fan of the Bristol Trip Hop genre

Ryan Adams - Sylvia Plath
Miserable song about a woman who suffered throughout her short life with depression, you'll probably feel the same afterwards, but I love it.

The Smiths - How Soon is Now?
Lyrics that were frankly fantastic and summed up going out as a single bloke when I was younger.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMqXj-eVCjI
Radiohead - Exit Music
What list of melacholic songs would be complete without the masters of miserable? Radiohead at their best.
Thank you for listening, I'm off now to watch Eastenders to cheer myself up.

Hero - can't agree more with the first song that list. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Cash at his finest!
