Henson signs for the Blues
There seems to be a few rumours going round that Henson is about to sign for the Blues on a pay as you play deal.
It seems a good fit (if true), hopefully he might not be wasted after all.

Re: Henson signs for the Blues
We dont need him at centre - Hewitt and Evans are great backup to Roberts and Laulaula
The only reason he would sign would be if he is playing 10, with Halfpenny kicking,
I would also explain Dia Young and Norster's depature - Young stated publically that he didnt want Henson at the Blues.

Gavin's looking rather blue.
Gavin Henson appears to have signed for Cardiff according to the BBC. I guess if he gets to play 10 (Which is what he's supposedly been signed as primarily) does this mean we'll see a Henson/Roberts combo? Also, it would mean all four regions would be playing Welsh qualified fly halfs which is fantastic for our national side. Thoughts? How do you think this affects the Welsh set up? Does he have a shot to play for us again?

Hooray!
Does this mean the Warburton red card debate is on the back-burner for a bit now that Welsh rugby has something important to talk about?

It appears so, I'd rather discuss this as it means I no longer have to wince every time I see Dan Parks on the team sheet. Also, we'll have 5 potentially international Welsh fly halves playing in Wales, regularly. Top stuff.

I hope he remembers how to play 10! People might actually go and watch the Blues this year if they shunt Parks to the Bench.

Cant be worse than Parks,
Funnily enough I actually spoke to a colleague at work today about how Henson started off as an outside half and how we needed a new one at the Blues

Re: Henson signs for the Blues
Good move for Cardiff, Wales and Henson. With Jones retiring, Hook not performing consistantly and playing in France, he has a really good chance to force his way back into the Welsh set up as a 10.
A big challenge having not played there for so long but he has the potential to be a great all round 10 in attack and defence. Exiting year ahead.

This has been on the club page for a while as speculation.
Good move in my opinion, cant be worse than Parks/Sweeney - Halfpenny to be goal kicker I expect.

Re: Henson signs for the Blues
Gavin Henson will return to Welsh rugby after agreeing to join the Cardiff Blues and is expected to be unveiled officially on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old has been searching for a side since French club Toulon chose not to renew his contract last season.
But Henson's agents, Arruga Sports, tweeted on Tuesday: "Congratulations to Gavin Henson for signing with Cardiff Blues... great news!"
The utility back is thought to have been recruited primarily as a fly-half.
It is understood that Henson had also held talks with his former region the Ospreys, although the Swansea-based side maintained that any discussions would only be held as "a courtesy".
Henson was included in Wales' provisional World Cup squad and made his first international appearance in two years against the Barbarians last June following protracted injury problems.

Born: 01/02/1982; Bridgend
Positions: Fly-half, centre, full-back
Clubs: Swansea, Ospreys, Saracens, Toulon, Cardiff Blues
Test honours: 33 Wales caps, 1 Lions cap
The Bridgend product started in Wales' 19-9 victory over England at the Millennium Stadium in August, but a wrist injury sustained during the game ruled him out of the World Cup.
Henson spent a brief spell with Aviva Premiership side Saracens, after negotiating his release from the Ospreys in October 2010 having cited personal reasons for wanting to move to a London club.
Although he sees himself primarily as a fly-half, Henson has won the majority of his 33 Wales caps at inside centre but has also impressed at full-back.
Henson was selected for the 2005 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand, playing in the second Test defeat in Wellington.
The Blues currently have Scotland fly-half Dan Parks and former Wales stand-off Ceri Sweeney in their squad.
Former Wales and Blues centre Tom Shanklin believes that Henson could flourish at his new region.
"I did speak to Gavin a few weeks ago... and he said he was talking to the Blues, and I thought that was a pretty good move for him," Shanklin told BBC Sport Wales.
"I think it's good for the Blues. There's a lot of controversy that follows Gav but he does seem like he really wants to get back into the game.
"He was very keen to put his boots back on and we saw glimpses pre-World Cup against England, until he injured himself, what he's capable of.
"I think if his head's right then he'll be a great signing for us.
"We all want to see a fit Gavin Henson on the field, because we all know what he can do.
"If he's playing in Wales then that certainly makes [Wales head coach] Warren Gatland, [skills coach] Rob Howley and [defence coach] Shaun Edwards' job a lot easier because they can keep an eye on him... it's brilliant news for Welsh rugby."

Yep good news for the Blues, Wales and the man himself. Apparently he has been locked away at the Vale monitored by the physios and medics left behind to get him back in shape just incase we dropped a center.

Re: Henson signs for the Blues
Speaking of his injury, Henson added
"The wrist is coming along alright. Obviously it was a nightmare injury for me, but I'm two weeks out of plaster now, so maybe a couple of weeks before I'm back on the pitch."
"It was nightmare timing getting that injury just before the World Cup, but these things happen."
"It's pretty tough mentally now, but it's healed and getting stronger, so I'm just looking forward to playing for my new club, The Blues."
"Going into the England game for Wales, I was feeling great physically. I'd done a lot of work with Wales and a lot of training, so I've tried to maintain that as best as I can, but some things are difficult because I was in plaster."
"I hope over the next few weeks now that the plaster is off that I will do other conditioning. I'm dying for the first opportunity with the Blues."

It'll be interesting to see if he can handle the pressure of being back inside the goldfish bowl of Welsh rugby where there will be an expectation of him to single handedly win the HC for the Blues and be a nailed on starter for Wales, and when he doesn't they'll say he's lost it and should retire (until he does something good again).

Re: Henson signs for the Blues
Well Henson can't do any worse than Parks or Sweeney.
I really expected a good season from Sweeney, everyone in Wales has been moaning that Parks was poor and that Sweeney would of been a much better option for the Blues, but frankly Sweeney has not taken his chances at all and looks a very poor player.
Parks contract is up at the end of this season I believe so it appears he will be shown the door, I'm not sure what the situation is with Sweeney but it wouldn't hurt to give him the boot either!
