Rules
Barclays Premier League™ Rules.
Intro:
These are the basic rules for the Barclays Premier League™. Anything not covered here will be dealt with by the League Runner.
How it Works:
The Barclays Premier League™ consists of 10 Premier League sides. Each side will play each other home and away.
Transfers:
League Transfers (Domestics)
If you wish to buy a player from another manager you must go onto their page and make them an offer. A fee must be clearly be agreed by the two managers for transfering a player between two teams inside the league. If you make an offer and a manager accepts you must then go back to them to confirm this transfer. As soon as you agree a deal with another manager the buyer must log your deal in the transfer page. Loans are permitted - the minimum period is 2 weeks and the maximum period is one season.
Foreign Transfers
If you wish to buy a player that plays abroad then you will bid for this when the window is open. The bid must be logged on the relevant page, and the bid will be responded to by the Transfer Manager within 24 hours. As soon as you have agreed a fee then the player is yours - but you must immediately log this on the completed transfer page. Once the foreign transfer window opens you may only bid for 1 player at a time. If you want to move onto another player without completing the signing of the one you originally bid for you must declare this before you move on.
League Transfers
British players that are not in any of the 10 origianl squads do not count as foreign transfers - ie. British Qualified players in the Premier League from clubs not being managed, or any British Qualified players from the Football League - may be signed for a fee whenever. This must be done on the same page as the foreign offers. These offers will also be responded to within 24 hours by the Transfer Manager. Again, you may only bid for 1 player at a time.
Starting Budgets:
Arsenal - £25m
Aston Villa - £50m
Chelsea - £10m
Everton - £50m
Liverpool - £30m
Man City - £15m
Man Utd - £10m
QPR/Newcastle - £80m
Stoke - £65m
Tottenham - £35m
Your budget will be maintained on the Budgets Page. Please make sure the budget on your squad page is correct at all times.
Transfer Limits (first transfer window):
Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd - 1 transfer
Liverpool, Tottenham - 2 transfers
Aston Villa, Everton - 4 transfers
Newcastle, Stoke - 6 transfers
Transfer Windows:
20/10/11 > 07/11/11
16/01/12 > 23/01/12
Free Transfers
Free transfers does not exist. If a player is out of contract with a club, then he must be bidded on, as per a normal foreign player, with a price suitable for his ability.
Releases
Releases will be done on the transfer page, and a fee must be agreed between the manager and the Transfer Manager.
Submitting your team:
Each week you must submit your team at the same time as your opposing manager. This can be done at any time between Monday 9am and Thursday 11pm. It is up to the managers to come to an agreement as to when the teams will be posted. Tactics can be completed after this has been done, but must be submitted by Thursday 11pm.
Team Rules
British Qualified players: Minimum of 8 in matchday 18, of which at least 4 must start.
Tactics Rules:
No more than 500 words, excluding player names in line-up.
Predictions
Things to consider:
- Home advantage (including notoriously hard to visit grounds)
- Tactics
- Formations, and whether they suit the players selected
- Fatigue of players
- New signings being 'bedded in'
When giving a result for a match, you will be able to look at both teams in that fixture lined up against each other. You should go through the squad man for man and decide who has the better individual players but do remember it it a team game. Players playing out of position should be marked down i.e. A right back playing left back. Next you should turn you attention to the subs bench. Are the subs of a good enough standard? If there were injurys to any of the starting 11 would there be a sub to cover this player?
Next you should study the formations. Do you think the players chosen will fit into the formation? Try and visualise one formation going up against the other teams, which one do you think would work well against the other. Finally take into consideration where the game is being played. We play each other twice, home and away, and we all know that in it is harder to win away from home but often very achievable with the way managers approach the game. Taking all of these factors on board it would be time to give your score for that game.
For each prediction, you should give the score, scorers and description on whay you came to that decision.
Results:
We obtain the scores by finding out the average goals each team scored in their match, anything below .5 rounded down and above .5 rounded up, and an extra goal is given if a side has been predicted to win 3 more times than their opponent.
Scorers will be calculated using the following method:
When each player scores, they get a point depending on their position that they played in,in that game. The points can be found in the chart below.
The player(s) who have the most points score.
The Chart:
Striker = 1 Point
Wingers/SS/CAM = 2 Points
CM = 3 Points
DM = 4 Points
Defenders = 5 Points (must get at least 2 goals)
Subsitutes = 7 Points (must get at least 2 goals)
Injuries:
Will be done on a 6 weekly basis by the Injury Manager
Suspensions:
Will mirror real life suspensions, and will be managed by the Suspensions Manager.
If a team plays an injured or suspended player, they will automatically lose the game 0-3.
